If it must be disclosed for "transparency", it should be like the fisa court concept; share it with the judge or some special jury. Obviously sharing this guy's name with the defense team was stupid.

You have a right to confront your accuser (and by extension all witnesses against you).

But not at a place of your choosing, and certainly not at their house.

OTOH, witness credibility is a thing, if the guy accusing you of murder is a pathological liar, you should have the right to bring that up at trial. You can't do that if your defense team isn't allowed to investigate him.

I'm not sure what the right answer is, just that this isn't it.

sadly, if we could back and check the original post bout this jail break law, I think you'll find that I predicted this very thing would happen.

You mess with gang-bangers, and they get your information, ALL of them, nation wide, know where you and your family live. If I were this guys family, I'd be moving, they may have killed him, the witness, they may make an example of the rest of his family too.

the important lesson here is, If you see something, RUN AWAY, don't get involved

There won't be anyone on trial for anything soon. There won't be a single witness that comes forward because of this shit. Even if the cops show up while someone is getting beat that person will say they tripped and fell to protect their families identity

While people should be safe when stepping up to do the right thing, I hope this law continues. I hope these types of stories (maybe not this severe) continue to be told.

I hope this effects more and more NYer's as time goes on. I hope more gun laws are passed and I hope the Feds continue to rage out against NY.

The only way for Cumhole to get removed from office is for the negative to outweigh the positive. Not that there are many positives these days.

Cumhole is not beatable at this point. He will be reelected to office.

The freedom loving citizens have no chance of getting a good Governor until the horrible in this state gets completely out of control.

Years ago I used to joke about NYS needing to issue 'asshole permits' . They would be similar to a doe permit but could be used at any time and any where in the state. Some asshole cuts you off in traffic and then flip you the bird no problem just shoot em and tag them and report the kill, of course you need to dispose of the carcass and you only get one permit a year. I think NYS would be a much nicer and polite place to live.
Maybe this isn't so far fetched of an idea?

That’s funny because the governor used the fact that people are not going to come forward to report crimes is because of the sanctuary law that they were going to jail; now if you come forward to report a crime you get killed.

More criminals back on the street, especially violent criminals, means more "illegal" guns on the street, especially hand guns. More crime means more judges and cops and prosecutors and lawyers and lots of government cash and bling.

1) Do not take (alleged) criminals to jail given the new bail reform laws ...... that leads to fewer people in jail --- a WIN for FUAC !!
2) Give alleged criminals the "right" to know their accuser's name and address ...... said "suspects" may silence the accuser.
3) Fewer crimes are reported to the police, due to fear on the part of the victim ...... that leads to fewer people in jail --- a WIN for FUAC !!
4) FUAC claims victory. " Look, crime is down & fewer people are in prison. "
5) FUAC wins in a landslide. He has emptied the jails, given felons the right to vote AND slowed the influx of convicted criminals to prisons.

Anything bad that happens to victims and witnesses is chocked up to collateral damage.

I’m not sure I’d be a witness to testify. I have a wife and two kids. If it was just me there would be guns all over the house with a sign out front saying yep it was me bring it on but I can’t do that to my wife or kids.
