I think everyone will be grandfathered in as far as the training requirements.
Retired police officers will be exempt but I didn’t see an exemption for retired PEACE officers.
Security guards exemption is only at work during work hours—good luck getting to work or getting lunch.

holding in an FFl was a response to people saying they are going to take them out of state because they are worthy they will be confiscated while waiting for a recertification.

Correct but California had a specification to meet their CDOJ certification for fire resistance and a bunch of cheap thin walled vaults (e.g. 20 ga, 22ga), cabinets, and safes do not meet it, however it does not take much and 14 ga seems to meet their CDOJ criteria

I have not seen or heard anything on a NY specific expectation but I was told our assholes talked to CA assholes and it looks like NY will be matching the CDOJ.

It is, regardless, another infringement and expense for many who have been responsible owners for years and do not have a bunch more money to piss away.
