Liability should be when they take away your right to defend yourself. I thought there was a court case that addressed that in Texas after a mass shooting and people had guns in their cars because they couldn’t bring them in. I cannot remember I think bush was governor.

Funny, we got reminders mailed to our household from the NYSP for recerts in January of the year our recerts were due, and we've got nothing from the DMV on our almost due and our last previously due vehicle. Go figure.
I consider all my safes fire resistant because they are in a fire resistant block house.

The question that people don't seem to ask is, how are they going to prove you lock your guns up, let alone have proper safes? Are they going to come inspect your house? Is that now a condition for a permit on top of all the new requirements?
Like I said in a previous post, now is the time to have a backup plan, whether it is a means to move guns out of state, or hiding them off your property. If these laws stick I can see a LOT of people losing their permits and even long guns. These were purposely designed to create failure and make criminals out of us.

Ya, like video storage for 2yrs. I install cameras on the side and the best commercial systems can go 2 weeks. So after 2 weeks, hard drive swapped to save old footage. 52 hard drives full of 2yrs worth of video. Ya thats not expensive.
My dad was talking to a owner of a new gun store the other day.. dude told him he was probably going to shut down because the specific requirements the state has set for the video/audo systems and the storage, the least expensive system out there is about $100k

It would have to be cloud storage, which is expensive. Even compressed, 2yrs worth of video stored in the clouds is easily 100 terabytes. There is no known system that can store 2yrs locally without swapping drives or manually backing up.

There are always the parking lot FFLs in the Blue decaying city nearest you, I guess the dealers can take credit for the nearby traffic cams to be in compliance. The downside is that many of them only have evening hours, but in the other hand most seem to have curbside pick-up.

I always said I won't flee my home, but I have no choice. I now have to try to convince my wife and her parents why we need to leave NY.
I can't afford the constant financial demands being imposed on my Rights, and there's no way in hell I'm going to tell them what social media I might be using (if any). Doing so would be tantamount to an egregious infringement of the 4th Amendment, as well as chilling my free speech Rights under the 1st Amendment.
I haven't had the chance to develop that kind of relationship with an FFL. So I am asking for recommendations on who I can get to hold them until I find a way to get them out of NY.
It's too bad. I just got a new 1911 9mm. I might get a few chances to play with it before I lose my Rights.

I only hope the family of the next victim is able to sue the state and the entire administration personally for exactly that.
I remember seeing a video clip of a woman that lost her parents in a shooting when they stopped for lunch and she was prohibited from bringing her gun into the diner. Her testimony was heartbreaking and if I remember correctly the assembly she appeared before didn't really care.

I do appreciate all the money I save by deleting all the emails from Palmetto, Aim, Ranier, etc without even opening them.
For what it's worth, Hochul's gambit is the full court press that the gun prohibitionists have always wanted. NY is the test case that will inform CA, MA, and all the other states with aspirations of disarming their populations.
We have a variety of political and social views represented on these boards. My own positions are often outliers from the norms. With that said, now is the proper time to put our differences into perspective, relative to our agreement on the need for us all to retain the right to bear arms.
In my view, we need to take inventory of our collective resources and work toward some shared agreements around what each of us affirmatively can do -- and things that we agree would be harmful to our purpose, which we will all avoid -- as we navigate these next crucial weeks and months.
My two cents.

I have not used or looked for a similar business in New York, but many of the nicer indoor ranges (and in the South Outdoor Ranges) offer secure climate controlled personal gun storage lockers for short or long term storage. I have seen them in most every state I searched and prices for a decent size locker vary from 15 dollars to 30 dollars a month (the ranges at the 30 rate are really upscale with a lush bar and a nice restaurant for club members). The link is for one I have neither visited or used. I think it is wise for any number of reasons or conveniences to diversify and avoid keeping your eggs (be they stocks, valuables, firearms, etc) in one basket.
Unlike FFLs it seems these private firearms storage lockers are treated more like a safe deposit box and you will not be asked to execute a transfer to an FFL for storage over 30 days.
I have also seen climate controlled storage units in free states that have a higher security arrangements specifically for firearms storage, they are apparently popular during divorces and long term overseas work assignments.
