Have you never played with a Spyderco or Benchmade? While I support the right of ownership of these types of knives I think assisted blades are a gimmick.just one more "law" to ignore. I usually carry a Kershaw Blur. I have been carrying it for 6 or 7 years. I keep it stupid sharp and sometimes use it on an hourly basis. I use it to cut the insulation off wires. Usually, while Im holding the wire with one hand and trying to open the knife with the other. I can't imagine life without an assisted-opening knife.
It's a NY State Supreme Court ruling. They ruled that assisted knives fall under the state law that covers switchblades. The ruling applies to the whole state, not just NYC.There is a fundemental difference in the way a switch blade and an assisted opening knife works.
NYC is not the rest of NYS. You’d be arrested for having your pocket clip hang out in NYC not anywhere else. This article is just to get people riled up.
I didn't like the thumb studs on the Kershaw I had, can't really use the thumb hole on spiderco (arthritis is killing my thumbs recently) . I absolutely love my assisted Benchmade. Just a very light touch on the well placed stud, and that blade flies out with authority.Have you never played with a Spyderco or Benchmade? Incompetent lawyer. The difference is clearly laid out in section 265It's a NY State Supreme Court ruling. They ruled that assisted knives fall under the state law that covers switchblades. The ruling applies to the whole state, not just NYC.
Who cares.
Carry on.
I am just about finished worring about these BS laws......if “they want you” they will get you one way or another.
Fuck them. If you want me, you know where i am. Fingerprinted. New driver ID. Passport. Tracked by phone. Phone tracking what i surf. Car is tracked. Ez pass tracked. Facial recongition online and on the roadway. Purchases tracked. Amazon listens in. Your phone listens in and records. You smart tv listens and watches.
It is all chicken little BS. I am no longer worrying about it.

4. “Switchblade Knife” means any knife which has a blade which opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in the handle of the knife.
automatically

So now we have fully semi automatic knives?

Thanks for clarifying that. I guess I had always assumed the "supreme court" was, well, supreme lol. Learn something new every day.Technically it is a ruling of the Court of Appeals, the highest level court for state law. Supreme Court in NY is actually the lowest level court of general jurisdiction. It’s FUAC’s fault.
What are you supposed to do with them when you aren't hunting or fishing? If it's sitting at home in a drawer, and you haven't renewed your hunting/fishing licence for what ever reason, are you breaking the law?And — just a reminder — switchblades are 100% legal to possess when fishing or hunting if you have a valid fishing or hunting license. If in NYC, the blade must be <4” long.
If it's sitting at home in a drawer, and you haven't renewed your hunting/fishing licence for what ever reason, are you breaking the law?
That's funny, and sad at the same time. If you pay the fee, it's legal to have, so you're buying an exemption to keep property that you already own in a legal state of ownership..... Yup, sounds like NY to me.
So now we have fully semi automatic knives?
Just looking at some assisted opening knives on amazon and they all say
" Cannot ship to your location"
That appears to be new on assited openers. Being that this is a state law, and the state sc rules on this can this go to the US SC?
Go to ebay instead of Amazon. I had the same issue. Although Amazon would ship to their pickup location but not my house.Just looking at some assisted opening knives on amazon and they all say

Agreed, although there are plenty of retailers who will still ship here. Its just annoying that amazon is sucking cuomos teet.this is why it helps to have relatives in a free state. I ship a lot of crap to my relatives and they ship them to me. Fuck this state, what to play games, lets play, idiots
