Odd open carry sighting at my local Walmart

PA is an open carry state but it's still unusual to see somone actually open carrying, however the weirdest thing was the way the guy was carrying:
8 o'clock cross draw. How the hell does he expect to reach around behind his offside hip from a cross draw position. Hell even just regualr OWB cross draw is a little odd.

That was from 2016 dude. I saw a little snow up in the Mountains 2 days ago but that's all there is for now. Don't know about by you but it was in the 50s here in Johnstown.

Then it would be even wider. Cross draw has the grip facing forward. If he drew the gun with the left hand he would have to awkwardly twist his wrist 180° or it would present upside down.
Not to mention it would be exceptionally difficult to work the thum break.
He was using a kydex holster with a leather thumb break strap. I think the gun was an XDS.
