Most anyone in this country and definitely this state that's not communist should know of Oneida Silversmiths.. My home town was once the worlds largest maker of tableware.
The interesting part for us comes from the factory war time production. WWI -WWII military knives among others like plane props and stainless surgical tools.. before corporate fuck ups and ceo greed killed the company they also did some test runs of sporting knives made in Their Mexico plant that never saw the retail market..

Fantastic hardware! Old Oneida gear is top notch. We have a ton of it.

My wifes grandfather was a silversmith for Oneida for almost 50 years. They still lived in their same house in Sherrill from 1951 until just a few years ago when Grandma died at 93 and we had to move Grandpa (turned 97 this year) into a senior living facility in Rome.

I think I used their hemostats for smoking weed and removing flies from trout. Likely in that order.

Oneida has a very interesting history.

My father also spent more than 40 years there right until they shut down manufacting.. also lived in the big city of Sherrill.

My dad died back in 2005 but I'm still finding nice collectibles that I misplaced when cleaning out his gun room.
Oneida LTD tie clips and spoon rings most likely invented by the workers on the line, but they must have sold some in the factory store seeing one is in plastic wrap.

Came up with a large file of old Oneida Community stuff. A few old trapping adds from their early days.

First thing I did was smell it.. it's clean..

And they had their flatware in every Army mess hall and I would always walk in and get a knife fork and spoon and look at the "OL" and tell the other guys in line, this is from my home county.

Went shopping for a gun and came across another Oneida sporting knife. Its the only one I've seen in a box and only the third that I have with a sheath. The box and leather stink like a moldy basement. $20 cash deal.
