Facial recognition. What a joke. Why I thought NYC was so safe right? Of course they will reassign the toll wokers for now
The 513 toll booth workers and agents employed by MTA Bridges and Tunnels have been reassigned to work under state police's enforcement division.
I'm trying to figure out how this saves NYS any money, they are not reducing the "bloated government workforce" by doing this.
Could they be getting ready to use them to assist the NYSP in the Pistol Permit Re-certification program? IDK
Just wait until they see how well this works, then they will deploy it to routes that get heavily used, but aren't currently "tolled". Can ya' say I-290, or perhaps the Skyway, maybe along I-81, or I-86. I can see him do it under some type of "Letter of Necessity" type thing.
REMEMBER.... this is NYS, and they have NEVER, EVER seen a tax or fee they didn't like. Besides, something has to happen to make up for the lost "revenue" of the 191k population loss NYS suffered!

In a few years tolls will go away all together. they will be replaced with a "highway use tax" that everyone will be paying. they will track you through GPS or your 'black box' (electronic control module) in your vehicle when you get your inspection (use the computer plug in to determine milage) and charge you accordingly.

That use tax is supposed to be collected already. Our state gas tax is the 3rd highest in the nation at 43.4 cents per gallon. It's 42.9 cents per gallon for diesel, which is also 3rd in the nation.

the "Gas tax" will go away if they switch to a highway use tax. AND it will switch to a highway use tax eventually because more and more cars are getting better gas milage, therefore they use less gas....less gas, less money for the corrupters.

It will also be implemented on the small bridges that connect Manhattan to the Bronx. Bridges like the one at Fordham Rd, Broadway up by 225th St, the Macombs Dam Bridge, and a few others. Prepare to be fucked in a bunch more ways.

I've paid the toll over the Tappan Zee, straight $5. I'm Ok with that program because it eases congestion and that reduces pollution and allows me to travel quicker. But, Why do they need facial recognition?!?!?
Oh, boy... NYS has figured out yet another way to fuck everybody! Way to go NY, just one more reason PRODUCTIVE people will be fleeing your state in droves! But that's O.K., I'm sure there will be more bottom-dwellers ready to move to NY, and jump on the broken social programs!!
