You want a better laugh, I'm thinking of removing my right eye glasses lens to use peep site LOL....
They will pattern you, but some of us fill all our tags with the bow, then leave just the buck tag for gun. They also pattern food source here now/and gone later.... Yeti do I know you? I know a big predator hunter in Wayne county named YetiDont know about your area but that drought got farmers cutting there corn early (now). The deer been out in them heavy and early before dark with this weather,I just dont like hunting food plots. Its not like TV hunting where the big bucks will come out and say shoot me,there usually totally nocturnal and way back in the bush during hunting hours.Rut time can change all that, early season just lets deer pattern you IMO.
As you know pics or it didnt happen!
I do have an archery tag but am going to wait for Xbow season and closer to the rut.Good luck out there today!
Three were broadside beauties that missed high and one the deer was looking right at me and I missed right. y.

Ok, so it's been 5 years since I've hunted bow due to a past shoulder injury, but...
Four misses?!?
Yes, seriously. I shot 4 times and missed each time. Three were broadside beauties that missed high and one the deer was looking right at me and I missed right. Now that one I get, but the broadsides I should not have missed.
I've been practicing all summer and the last time the bow was out of the case (last week), I was hitting bullseye every time from 20 and 30 yards.
Is it because of the angle? Maybe I'm out of practice on that part...
Frustrating. I'm gonna practice mon/tue and head back up thursday.

So mad you said it 4 times?
What's wrong with a chest shot, head on? I've taken deer that way before (with firearms though).
My deer population looks way down again this year.Dont know where they all went and dont think it was hunting pressure. There are alot of coyotes though, thinking they had a big impact on guttin the heard. This will be the third or fourth season that looks like I will be deer less again,I dont shoot doe.

Always Lower 3/4 - they jump the string on slow bows, even some fast ones with four blades, vanes, string etc... They hear in coming.Just shoot lower.

My stands are 8-12 feet only for just that reason. At 20yrds out it's about a level shot. I have stealth and hold out playing the game with deer till they are about on me. Only ever shot one straight down on spine last year, Doe.Well one good thing: I did some shooting today and adjusted the weight a little higher and got it back dead on at 20 and 30. I may even use my 40 pin to make a 20-25-30 setup since that is all I am comfortable shooting now anyway.
Tomorrow I am going to shoot a few off of my balcony at known distances. I also plan to lower my stand height some. I tend to be 20+. Going to stay around 15'.
I have always been told, hold low when shooting up or down hill.
You shoot instinctively. Like throwing a baseball, very nice. I can only do that shooting Carp with bow fishing.I have never used sights, only shot a compound one time, sharpen my own broadheads. I get my deer every year. You can make simple things very complicated if you are of a mind to.

say ya sharpen? you use the big two blades? like Bear blades? I use to do that...I have never used sights, only shot a compound one time, sharpen my own broadheads. I get my deer every year. You can make simple things very complicated if you are of a mind to.

Until last year I was using blades I forged myself. I used vintage Ben Pearson 'Deadheads' last year and they performed awesomely!!! Last year, for the first time in over thirty years I used a recurve, one my son surprised me with, a Jack Howard 'Gamemaster Jet', probably the finest recurves ever made in modern archery. Before that I have been using English style longbows that I fashion from local grown Osage orange and ash wood arrows I make from local trees as well. Thats part of the thrill for me, shooting, and hunting with things I have a connection to.
