Optics Planet Went Full Retard

I have been in the process of building an AR in 9mm. I have all the recommended parts except for the barrel. The Kaw Valley 16" was highly recommended by someone on here. Optics Planet finally got it in stock so I ordered it with the thread protector. As I kind of expected, they cancelled the order because of the threads due to NY banned features. I looked through their website and found a DSI unthreaded barrel. I know DSI is a bad word but we have very few options here in NY. I ordered the barrel and what do you know, they cancelled it again. I called to ask why. They said it is a restricted part per NY laws. I disagreed with them and told them it is a NY compliant barrel without the threads. That's the whole purpose of the existence of this part. I guess I can scratch them off my list of vendors. Its a shame because they have been so good through this parts shortage and shipped me everything I ordered. I like using Optics Planet because when I sell stuff on eBay, the money goes right into my Paypal and Optics Planet accepts Paypal for everything they have on their site.

Our options for buying gun parts is constantly shrinking. Soon nobody will ship anything for any type of gun to NY. Looks like Cuomo and Miss Bucktooth have finally figured a way to ban guns in NY without outright banning them. Ban the parts one by one.

By the time they would have delivered it to you in 26-28 weeks it would be illegal anyway. They are terrible and I’ll never buy from them again.

If I were you I would try another company like Primary Arms. They don’t seem to have any issues with shipping barrels to NY, andddd when their site says that it’s in stock…it’s in stock.

Yeah I had a similar experience ordering from MidwayUSA an Aero M4 enhanced upper. I needed 4 and ordered 4 but they put the order on hold while they investigated if it was legal in NY state. I ended up getting only getting 3 of them and a refund for the 4th.

Try Joe Bob Outfitters. They have always been very good with anything I order. Remember to order the free T-shirt too. I ordered 2 Ballistic Advantage barrels from them a couple months ago. No issues with them being threaded.

+1 on Primary Arms. They are good to their customers. I would look and see what they have for bbls and go with them.

What if a person uses apens spring or a spring from ace hardware store is that a firearm part?

What if put an archery scope on the rifle is that a rifle part?
The laws have so many things that are undefined and arbitrary.

Threaded barrels are only verboten on semi autos with detachable magazines.

Tell them you have a fixed magazine.

Or no working gas system.

Or you have a registered AW you're putting it on.

Any one of those would make it legal.

You may have better luck dealing with smaller companies. They are not as paranoid. Many have a policy of knowing and obaying your local laws is your responsiblity.

how did that happen .. lol .. yrs ago Midway wouldn't even ship a musket to a NY FFL that my friend wanted to buy that was in stock ..

When I was still working, we were "forcefully encouraged" to contribute to a PAC.
PAC money was used to get you in the door of an elected official before they could put us out of business with the stroke of a pen.
Of course, all the PAC money in the world wouldn't help in Albany.
Companies all have lawyers. A lawyer is never going to answer anything that is good for the company. They only answer as to what suits them to either Cover their own butts or make them the most money.

I never had a problem with shipping times at Optics Planet. I placed the order yesterday around noon time and as of last night everything but the barrel was in the shipping department ready to ship. For me Buds Guns always seems to take a long time to ship out. I like Optics planet because they are one of only a few websites I use my PayPal for. EuroOptic is another site I use for my scopes and red dots and they accept PayPal. Another thing with PayPal, the invoice is rarely itemized, unlike a credit card. Its less of a paper trail with PayPal.

I'll check into the other sites mentioned here and see what happens. I know in recent years Midway has also turned their back on NY customers.

Optics Planet is just a drop shipper. They're a middle man, and they suck. Ive bought plenty of stuff from them in the past, and often waiting ridiculous times for shipping on "in stock" items.

Primary Arms is my first stop for everything, on to Joe Bob, Midway, and then Rainier. Brownells is pretty good too.

Palmetto State is ok for some things, but they take forever to ship anyting as well. And their stuff is bottom end quality wise. But they tend to have a lot of stuff that others don't. Palmetto is usually my last resort.

Optics Planet used to be good but after waiting 4 months for my last order 2 years ago (SGA Stock for my Mossberg), I asked for a refund and ordered it from Brownells.

I heard/read somewhere that Brownells tracks and reports purchases made by NYers or something to that effect.

Optics Planet is definitely horribad, they wouldn't ship me a KAK can like 2 years ago.

What I don't understand about Optics Planet, they carry parts that are compliant in the typical communist states like NY and California but wont ship the compliant parts to these states. One of the above mentioned sites is shipping the barrel to me so FU Optics Planet.

Primary arms would also be my choice. But if you're still considering the DSI barrel why not order from them directly instead of going thru optic planet. DSI has their own website. they're located on L.I.
