It sounds insane on its face but I think the Netherlands did it and results are a lot less awful than I would have thought. What they should really do is test this out for a few years with a mandated expiry on it and then have to revote in 3 years else the illegality comes into effect, then we can at least see how it is and evaluate impact.

If someone want to ingest a substance that will eventually kill them and they know that it may eventually kill them then let them have it for free with no legal repercussions. Yes I know it's cold hearted and have lost acquaintances to drug addiction so I know first hand you can't help anyone unless they want to get help for themselves first.

Heres my problem it does not only effect them. Some one strung out driving a car kills my kid or your kid you'll think differently. The cost to society now is astronomical and will not be reduced much if made legal. Heroin addicts OD hourly now. Imagine if it's legal. I don't like it and I'll never agree to it. Welcome to the forums and I'm not beating up on you because your new. I understand your point. If it's free at least they won't try to rob to get it, but then my tax dollars are going to supply them with this crap and kill some ones kids. I just can't support it. You don't make it free I'll add to my argument that they will try to rob me for their drugs.

It's an interesting take, and certainly worth watching to see the results. I do believe crime has increased in areas where marijuana has been legalized, especially break-ins at dispensaries... Lol
Honestly, you do what you want in your home, couldn't give a crap you wanna kill your liver, your brain or body. It'll free up courts, jails and LE efforts for other endeavors. The problem isn't with functional addicts, it's with those who can't support their habits, or allow their habits to control their lives.

Yea, but the opposition is worried more about what hopped up people driving will do and everyday life situations that they fear the impairment will bring upon the society. I'm all for "let us do what we want", people already are driving and going about life hard drugged up anyways but now it's in the open and will surely be the blame game from MSM..at least that's what I feel..

Anyone who wants to use these substances is doing so. They are already cheap and available. People are driving high right now where you live.
Leagalizing it will result in consistant products from legitimate suppliers - which means less likely overdoses. Additionally, the billions of dollars a year spent on the 'War on Drugs' wouldn't be continually wasted.

While I am generally in favor of legalizing drugs, within limits, it is not what happens to subtance abusers personally that I am concerned with. It is what addicts to to others when in the thralls of their habit that worries me. With the legalization of drugs should come the proviso that out of control addicts are devoid of humanity, that is literaly no longer to be seen as human beings, and are no different than rabid animals and should therfore to be treated the same. To be put down on sight and without ceremony.

The drug law will only affect the user, the more freedom and availability and decriminalizing of it though will have others who aren't "pros" at driving or living their life high, like many can do so well be using..and those newbs will get in the car and crash and burn and kill the innocent 8 year old playing.

All that crap is readily available now. I'd be willing to bet any highschool kid can get pot, or pills, or heroine when they want. Some of them drive while they're messed up, others sit home and do it.

Of course. But opening it to all the others to experience and experiment opens up a whole new can of worms. I say "pros" because com'on, we all know friends or have been there, you do your everyday life fine and drive fine and responsibilities get taken car of and whatnot, but the new fool that says "hmm I'll try it, why not" goes out and kills people with their car.
