This may not be a bad idea to try to get out of the house. I don't think my wife is opposed to moving to TN potentially. Could be an option if I get her down there a few times and she likes it. I just need to figure out a way to keep the cats cared for and we're good to go.

I'd do TN if I could find something along the 81 corridor north of Knoxville. For now anyway, we'll be in Mt Airy.
My work is mostly VA, MD, DE, NJ, and PA, (Soon to be adding WV) so easy access to 81 is important. My boss wants to give me North and South Carolina and is trying to get me a relocation package. I don't know if I really want the Carolina's. We have a pending acquisition that will double my work in our Mid-Atlantic region. I have 12 managers with 17 offices and 250 employees. This next acquisition will double that at least.

I think we are one tax increase, firearm or other BS law away from a good number of members here ending up in the same area of a state that would actually be happy to have us.

That seems really low, right? I'm sure plenty here would agree... but that's just a sign of how far gone we are.
Try telling that to people who live out of state. They will be shocked by that number, then tell you about their tax bills that are as low as one tenth what you pay.
I speak from experience. My taxes total about $3500 on my 2000sf house and 45 acres. That's... crazy low, right? I thought so too, until I told people who live out of state. They were SHOCKED at the size of my tax bill. They couldn't believe I thought it was low.

NY is my home. Even if I move, it will always be my home while in exile. This is who I am. I grew up around good people who loved their families -- there is nothing I have to be ashamed of or have to hide about myself. If someone in another state doesn't like it, fuck em.
NYC, and the politics around it, I hate. That's not who I am, or how I was raised. It doesn't represent who we are in other areas of the state. It is a stain on much of NY -- a cancer -- that controls us and what we want in our local communities. NYC is not NY, to me.
