I’m driving next week between the Hudson Valley and Pittsburgh, stopping in Pike County to,pick up my non-resident CCW.

Any shops I should check out on the drive with an excellent ammo selection?

Yup, correct.
Coudersport (Potter County) does, last time my wife an i were there, we asked.

They have approved my permit. But there are no available appointments to pick it up on either of the days I've passing by. What a mess.

Too many government agencies got used to needing "appointments" for official business and have never gone back to taking walk in's. BS

Just to close this out, I received a call from the sheriff’s department inviting me to come in whenever, and I did. The whole process took all of five minutes, with the very friendly staff helping me out.

Pike County is good to go if anyone is driving through, and relatively close as well.

Oh dang, I was in PA last month, should have stopped by. Had to pick up my Pike County non-res CCW, and had some other business in PA... (Run 'n Gun type competition for AR15.com held at the Geissele range, amazing time)

I went to the Cabela's in Hamburg, huge place... and nearby was Priority One Surplus. Ammo was more expensive than online, obviously... but I was not IDed at all.

Scranton has a Cabelas and did Targetsports open their retail store there yet?

I had e-mailed TS-USA, and their plans for a PA storefront are on hold due to NY's stupid laws....

Last I visited TN and the mecca of Bud's Guns and Smoky Mtn Gun Works... awesome to look around but I wasn't impressed with the ammo selection. Maybe I caught them in between shipments. I did buy a small amount of ammo and was not IDed then. They DID have a sign saying no long gun sales to NYers (SMGW).

I was IDed in an outdoor shop in Everett, PA. Juniata Trading company. Gave me a weird look when I gave him a NYS id and then rang me up. Many places do not care, others have an idea of what NYS is like and do not want to risk it.
