I have an IBM carbine with a butchered finish. Actually there appears to be little of anything on most of it. The barrel is marked I.B.M. CORP. The letters are very faint, as if the barrel itself were somehow worn away making the lettering very shallow. Can anyone tell me if the parkerizing process will make the lettering even fainter than it is now? Does it leave a coating that would fill in the lettering? I have not stripped the carbine down to each individual piece but all the parts that I can see are IBM coded. Naturally I would not want to make the barrel lettering illegible. I think the more parts that are identifiable as IBM the better. Any info will be most appreciated.
