If i ever have to go to NYC .. i putting this in my pocket LOL ... and they think knifes are bad .. FUAC ..
And under 4 inches and is not a “gravity knife”. If you get stopped for something else , you don’t want to have a “dangerous knife”. - the presumption that a regular knife is CPW 4 is not been upheld by the courts. It must fit those other definitions of CPWpretty simple actually. Get any knife you want, just make sure the entire knife is IN YOUR POCKET, don't use the pocket clip. As long as it is completely concealed you should be GTG
IANAL, disclaimer posted. My understanding is that you can not legally carry a knife in NYC. Period. ANY knife you're caught with can be said to be carried with intent. It is all up to the officer that stops you whether or not he's going to jamb you up.
That being said, you'd be breaking NYC law by carrying anything, hence the comment to carry whatever you want as long as you completely conceal it in your pocket with no clip displayed.
Even if it locks, there no way to gravity it open. It's impossible on a Leatherman. No, knives are legal under a lot of circumstances.
The easy answer is a leatherman type multi tool with less than a 4 inch blade. And if you can get one without a locking blade, even better ( if it doesn’t lock, it’s not a gravity knife. A multi tool knife is definitely seen as tool rather than a weapon.
Just carry it in your pocket and you should be fine
Over the course of my career I’ve ordered one person collared for a knife, taken one off of one more (butterfly knife, I still have it), and only “verified” the arrest of one more. All three deserved what they got. Besides them, knives don’t even register on my radar unless they’re being used against me or someone else.
There's more than one on YouTube. More than 10 actually. Thousands more that aren't on video. You can look them up if you like. I'm sure the NYPD's google has way more results.Oh man, you found one! Take back everything I said.
The guy in the video doesn’t know the law. The law specifically mentions clip or sheath. The officer was correct on that part of the law.
