I think you’re wrong on that. It’s purchase and transfer from what I remember. FAQ’s says if you’re acquiring one.

i'm saying this only affects NYS FFLs because the Witch can pull there business license ..

That’s fine but you as the owner of a new semi auto rifle as soon as you bring it into NYS are in violation of this law and the business owner in the other state is as well. It’s called an FFL not NFL since it’s a federal firearms licenses dealer. I would guess if they violate state laws they can lose their firearms license.
Again it’s purchase or transfer a new semi auto rifle not just buying one in NYS. Does it matter in the end, yes if you get caught. As an FFL said here he can’t or won’t transfer you one anyway so this might be a moot point. I’m sure some would and some states you don’t need a background check in, but I’m just telling you the way I interpret the law. I took action prior to 9/4 to avoid this being an issue anytime in the short-term if ever for me.

Your vetting for a semi auto license will be the same as they put the pistol permit people through so it will be a long wait.
The upside and its the "fudd response" and I do not subscribe to that is I got mine and now there are lots of guns down at the store to be bought. The fucked up idea, I got mine and too bad for you. I am not that way.
My prediction now is with the commie states disregarding the Bruen decision and forcing themselves back to the Supreme Court, they trump them with a decision of saying all and every state gun control is null and void as 10th amendment works backwards also to fully enforce the 2nd amendment.
I give monthly to GOA just like other people give to other charities. I get notices from them every few days to be aware and in the fight.

Thanks i called county clerk an you have to fill out paper work like a pistol permit. Its much easier if you have your permit already. I have always been against getting a NYS pistol permit so i never got one. Oh well ill wait around for the next loop hole. C&R ffl might be excluded.

I think it sucks to go through the hoops to get a pistol lisence but to me it's worth it to have a legal pistol and not be an instant felon if I ever need to use it.
I was trying to pick the posters brain on whether they just didn't like the process and was abstaining in protest or if they didn't believe in people having pistols.

But it's not just because of the registration.
It's essentially asking the very same government that is told not to infringe, for permission to exercise a right, which is a gross infringement in itself.
If "permits" are allowed it should be nothing more than "hey, .gov, I'm buying a gun." No info, no permission needed, simply a declaratory statement that you are purchasing something and the .gov has no say in the matter.

Correct but if I’m forced to have a permit I should not need a background check every time then. The permit should suffice as a background check, furthermore I shouldn’t have to wait to pick up my gun until it’s added to said permit. It’s a joke.

Agreed, but ATF requires that the form be filed by an FFL for every transaction conducted by said FFL. Filing a form 4473 and performing a NICS BG check are two seperate and distinct processes. There is a difference between sticking the 4473 in a file cabinet and dialing in to the FBI NICS to run a BG check. I have a KY CDW permit...the KYSP run monthly BG checks against every CDW permit holder, so my permit suffices as a BG check and I do not have to undergo a NICS check when purchasing a firearm......but I do have to fill out the form 4473 so the FFL can comply with ATF paperwork regs. The FFL then just files the 4473 and goes on with their day, I walk out with my purchase....no need for a NICS check.
Yes, I know KY is Constitutional Carry but the permit is needed for reciprocity (with 37 other states!) so I got the permit. You do have to undergo NICS in KY if you do not have a CDW permit. (The CDW...concealed deadly weapons.....permit also allows carry of switchblades, throwing stars, blackjacks, and "other" deadly weapons.) The permit also allows me to purchase handguns in the neighboring states of IN and OH without a NICS check.
