Pigs again!

Going for pigs again monday, same place as last year. Not the most exciting hunt but I had fun last year and the meat was amazing so why not give it another go?

Last year I used my PSA KS-47 with a red dot on it. I want to switch it up this year. Unfortunately my AR-10 is not yet sighted in fully. Leaning towards my Marlin 1895 in .45-70 but also considering my Marlin 336 in .30-30 (open sights).

I have others obviously. Suggestions?

You don't need that big of a caliber....556. Make it challenging. 9mm I don't think will work. You want to drop them with one shot. Adrenaline kills the meat if they run.

PA. It’s a not exactly fair chase, but it’s not caged either. It’s a large island and you have to do the work to find them yourselves.

They moved the Ranger Ball to Pennsylvania? On a Monday? In March?

(Not remotely a Ranger. But would advise a .380 in an ankle holster and a fixed blade knife).

I have heard the meat isn’t that good....but the people I heard that from heard it from someone they knew. Good to hear first have experience. I may consider a hunt someday.

I did a hunt in northern Vermont some years ago.I thought the meat sucked.I love pork,figured boar would be similar.First thing we did when we got back was cook up a loin roast,if a butcher sold me a piece of meat like that I would slap him with it.Four of us went and came back with 4 boar.The only thing I thought was ok was the hams we smoked and the bacon.That was a lot of crap meat for the next year.

That’s a tough one without knows what u have available? I like the 45-70 cause I always wanted one. Would like to see the damage.
