Pistol ammo for lever rifle- difficult to get in NY w/o a pistol permit?

sale of ammunition for revolvers or pistols of any kind, or for rifles,

to them in their homes, or, as they may go abroad; and manufacturers are
authorized to continue to manufacture, and wholesalers and dealers to
continue to deal in and freely to sell ammunition to all such persons

5. Notwithstanding the provisions of subdivision four of this section,
it shall be unlawful for any dealer in firearms to sell any ammunition
designed exclusively for use in a pistol or revolver to any person, not
authorized to possess a pistol or revolver. The violation of this

What in the world is the point of that I ask? Why that over the 9mm version, no advantage whatsoever.

I think the law is missing the "made in common manufacturing" stipulation.
After doing a bit of googleing, ive found a few guys that have built 380acp rifles. Apparently they believe they are perfect "critter control". Not many critters my .22 mag wont deal with, but hey, each to their own.
By critter im thinking fox, coon size down.

You can also get 16" conversion barrels for Glocks and put a stock on them to make rifles for 9*23 - 9*25 - ect
This state is so messed up, in Buffalo the Dicks, Gander, Bass Pro... none have ever asked to see my permit. Walmart asks, but I just say rifle and they sell to me.

I just can't imagine a caliber that can't be shot our of a rifle. And unless you want to get really technical there are inserts you can put in shotguns.

I had Dick's ask for my permit, when I said rifle, they just entered a generic number. Gander asked rifle or pistol, and when I said rifle, they just asked for DOB. It was for .22lr in both cases.

exclusively for use in a pistol or revolver ... there is no such thing because one thing that i have learned about guns, you will find someone who has made it somewhere. Walmart admits they know pistol rifles exist and say strait out its company policy.

When was the last time you were in runnings to buy pistol ammo. I tried to buy some 45LC recently and the idiot behind the counter wouldn’t sell it to me unless I showed him my pistol permit. I told him it was for my newly purchased lever gun and he told me it didn’t matter, it was state law. Dumb fucks .needless to say I told him how dumb he was and told the manager who came out from the back that They just lost a customer for life.

Yesterday. The one in Clay ( Syracuse).
For what it's worth, I've been asked for mine while buying handgun ammo there. They also told me I had to go through an FFL to buy a pistol from my mom. Apparently, proper understanding of the laws isn't part of the job description.
