Plainclothes Louisville Police Raid Wrong Home, Shoot Homeowner Eight Times

I live in a condo complex. The Orange County Sheriffs came to investigate that my wife lives there when she applied for her pistol license. These clowns left a note on my neighbors door downstairs that they knocked and no one answered. We had to call them and tell them that they went to the wrong door.

And that is a problem Mistakes can hurt and kill people. Same, but different, I had a rather large shipment of ammo delivered years ago, it went to the wrong house. House across the street, the last two numbers are reverse of mine. They called the police, they showed up and started all kinds of questions of me that were unnecessary and unwanted. Questions that would have never been asked if a mistake was not made by the driver.

This shooting was a horrible mistake, a mistake that should have never been made, but that does not change about me not being directly affected.

What can be done? A war against police every time they conduct one to stop them from doing it? Because you know as much as I do that letters to a judge to put a stop to this is like me writing Cuomo to open up business and repeal the safe act.

The Safe Act does not affect me either. I do not own an AR. The President elected does not affect me either. What do I care if MS13 is given amnesty and citizenship? Jobs lost to China do not affect me either. I have a job. The new law that says that teachers in schools have the right to remove guns from the home of a kid having a bad day. I do not have kids.

It does not. Wanting these actions to stop is a different story. BTW, I do not believe this was a no knock, not that it matters.

So many are outraged, but even less do anything to stop the actions that they do not like.

Police busting into the homes of innocent people and killing them affects us all. Any one of us could be in the next wrong house that gets invaded. This crap needs to stop, and officers must be held fully accountable.

I haven't dug into this, but if there wasn't a warrant at all how did this guy even get charged with attempted murder? A brand new public defender would be able to get this guy off/out in 10 minutes if the cops had no warrant at all and kicked in the door. It's another story that will never reveal the true facts because it makes one side look bad. There will be a settlement so what really happened won't come out in court.

You know how if two people rob a place and one gets shot sometimes his buddy will be charged with murder?

Maybe the cops should be charged with attempted murder of the injured cop, for screwing up so badly. Now it's entirely possible not all three of them are responsible for the fact they entered the wrong house. Whoever is, and if he/she did not follow existing guidelines on how to identify such a property (and in any case they obviously need to be updated), should be in a world of hurt because they are responsible for the death of the woman and the injury to the cop.

If this article is accurate somebody needs to be charged with the wrongful death of this woman.

IMO it does matter if there was a warrant because that warrant would have an address on it. If they were at the house with the address on the warrant IMO it would make the three cops position much better and stronger. The people who applied for the warrant not so much.
No warrant and wrong house the cops are screwed. Why enter in the first place? What right did they have even if they announced police search warrant or whatever they do announce.
I agree there are very limited situations where no knock search warrants are applicable but only in the cases of the most deadliest people and the cops have eyes on the home that they are in there. Many levels of approval need to be in play for no knock warrants.

I still think there is not enough information. As it is, some people should be going to jail, and not the guy that was arrested. The higher up that gave the okay on this warrantless raid should be up for murder.

These are very fair points, there is terrible shit that happens every day. And if I read all these horrible stories I would lose even more faith and humans.

The main difference is that police are, and should be, held to a higher standard than the average citizen because they are trusted to uphold the law, and they get paid to work with those standards.

Not looking for a nitpick. You know what I’m saying. You know when no-knocks are warranted. And for those limited times when they indeed are warranted, it’ll turn out that the need for them would be extremely rare. Almost nonexistent even. Just like it used to be in the past before the Iraq and Afghan Wars made CQB become cool.

The only ones who are going to stop this are the people and sadly its not going to be through the system that created the shit show and continues to allow it. I've said it before god help those who shoot and kill any of my family members by "accident". The system will have its opportunity to punish those involved but we know they will fail to do so.

SWAT use has far exceeded its original intentions. They are government controlled military units operating on US soil, the framers warned us about this crap.

They never do in these situations.. it's happened before. Cops kick in wrong door and shoot/kill someone and get shot at and charge the people with attempted murder..

Apparently it was not the wrong door this time.
A judge granted a warrant fir the victims house.
Her home was involved in a drug investigation.
Another warrant was given for the victims ex boyfriend 10 miles away.
Not that it matters much but it wasnt the wrong house.
