Police chief says new cannabis law is flawed
SAUGERTIES – The new state law that allows the legal sale and possession of up to three ounces of cannabis by persons over the age of 21 has a flaw and needs

Is there a field sobriety test for weed, or what do they do now?Bigger issue, imo, is how to enforce Driving while under influence of drugs laws. There's no breathalyzer for pot and blood tests don't always come back conclusive, especially if other drugs are in their system.
Add to that they set a BAC a limit and a level for weed in your blood. What if you smoke weed and drink together and it impairs you yet your under the legal limit for both alcohol and weed? Still impaired but can’t be prosecuted??Bigger issue, imo, is how to enforce Driving while under influence of drugs laws. The driving while impaired laws are fundamentally flawed. In most departments, they have drug recognition experts. There are not enough trained though, throughout the Country, less than 5000 all together.
Driving while stoned is very, very hard to prove.
Evidence of impairment usually comes from the arresting officer’s observations of things like:
poor field sobriety tests, slurred speech, unusual behavior, and overall bad driving.
The driving while impaired laws are fundamentally flawed.
Because they concentrate on the substance and not the impairment.
I don’t care if the guy is high, or drunk, or just too old or tired to drive. The test should be an objective test for the necessary skills themselves.
I'm not talking a road test. I'm talking about quick tests of reaction time, etc administered by an automatic system.
And if that means that aunt myrtle can never pass it, then she should probably not be driving at all anyway.
And yep, if someone can pass the tests with a .15 BAC, then he's good to go, because it's mental capacity we care about not chemistry.
I skimmed the law, 3oz on person, 3 mature plants, 3 immature plants. 5 pounds in your house.I just want to know how they established 3oz as the cut off of acceptability!?
3oz...
Really?
I don't know much about anything, but 3oz for personal use is a bit of a stretch! Amazingly so...
6 plants per person, ok?
Same thing, what's the yield per plant?
How much weed smoke is ok? I mean yes, you can buy and possess all the alcohol you'd like, so I understand then, are any limits ok?
But it's all just the money grab...
The acceptance by the Gov't of Vice, for $$$ gain. As it has endorsed and promoted gambling over the last couple decades+ ... We now see the further eroding of morality by the State sponsorship of vices, such as drug use, alcohol, gambling... and more to come! Prostitution is next, wholesale across the board, wait for it...
It's not that I completely disagree with it, just that I don't like the undertones of why! Ultimately and largely because its the ol "Pat on the ass" there ya go, have fun, send off from the Gov't. No support programs in the background, no systemized therapy for those who experience the worst of these vices, no help (real help, not an 800#)... Just the old ok, it's good now, just pay the freight and you're good to go! Have fun, see ya'
Alcoholism is real and it destroys, so is drug addiction, and sexual offenses! The Gov't is ignoring the dark side of these vices, period!
And THAT is a problem, will be a problem and the problem then will always be ours! Will be the families impacted by these decisions. Not much different than defunding the police and at the same time restricting a citizens ability to protect themselves... Simply befuddling and mentally deficient!
Anyways... /end rant
Have a nice day![]()
You don't know how many people are driving around stoned now, because they are not going to be swerving and driving erratically .Bigger issue, imo, is how to enforce Driving while under influence of drugs laws. There's no breathalyzer for pot and blood tests don't always come back conclusive, especially if other drugs are in their system.
Weed and alcohol are different types of influence. For example, I drive far better under the influence of weed than I do alcohol.![]()
Haha , that’s a 1/4 lb. doobie right there !
