Be careful. Use of deadly for or serious physical injury is qualified in the law when it comes to arson. It has to involve potential death or serious injury of people, ie: people in the house, or car that is being set on fire. You can't use deadly force to protect your property, as in your car can get torched in your driveway or on the street with no one in it and you can't use deadly force to defend it. You have the responsibility to retreat in NYS, but you do have the castle doctrine as well. Some one is at home or in the car and someone tries to burn it, you can defend life with deadly force.In NY it's legal and lawful to utilize deadly force against someone committing Arson...
