Might not be any place handy to drop it. Sister lived out there and whole place is crazy. At times it takes 2 hours to move 5 miles That is 20-25 miles from the outskirts of LA . She mentioned that flying in to the airport it seems that you are over the city for 1/2 an hour before you land the expanse is so great.

I was talking to this one trailer driver and he said he was at one business. Union shop. Seems that some steel plate on a pallet for him on the dock. Got all the paperwork to get it loaded but it just sat there.. Seems that Seems that if it went on a machine or was from a machine an expediter would load it. If it was an ordinary steel plate then just a regular dock worker could load it. .. There was a running argument for an hour on who would put it on the truck. . The driver said he loaded it himself by dragging it on his truck so he could get off the dock.
I am sure there are so many union rules on that dock it is not funny....

I am a longshoreman in NY/NJ and we are wide open! We work all the time. The problem for us is space. Shipping companies don't want to pick up empty containers so they leave them here and we charge them for it. Biden thinks he can get Long Beach to work 24/7, but that is up to the company not the longshoreman to which there are plenty of. He hasn't the foggiest idea how to fix this problem and like every problem he touches, it will just get worse!!

I looked at job descriptions for the los angelos port and they are only offering jobs to independent owner operators or company positions that have 2 years port experience... this elimates alot of the available trucking industry personnel.. plus in order to work at a port you need a TWIC card and that process can be very long for an twic card background check

First off, the boat captain said we were the first company to ever rent his boat to tour the port to see how everything was working up close. His usual business is doing memorial services at sea. He said we were a lot more fun than his regular customers.

The ports of LA/Long Beach are at a standstill. In a full 3 hour loop through the port complex, passing every single terminal, we saw less than a dozen containers get unloaded.

There are hundreds of cranes. I counted only ~7 that were even operating and those that were seemed to be going pretty slow.

Oh, boy. It’s union rules now. The union rules were around long before this crisis. It’s the change in environmental regulations as to what trucks can be used is the real reason for some of this problem. The other is a lack of drivers .

We need a president that will say if the current working staff can’t do this we will train people that can union or no union. Our last president would have said that.

I have no idea how a port works, but it seems to me its really not that complicated, suspend Mexifornias emissions laws for 12 months, let anyone with a CDL and a truck into the port and start moving containers. Have a dedicated group of trucks moving containers to the rail yards,

I used to run refer containers to all ports in the lower 48. Did a lot of Longbeach and Oakland. These ports have always run on a very strict time table. The fact that all these ships are sitting tells me someone has ordered a slowdown. There is no way the people working the ports would let this just happen. Delivering to these ports has always been kinda like organized chaos. A lot of pressure to hustle and keep things moving on schedule. Normally the refer containers are taken to specific container yards to be serviced/ repaired. The driver leaves the port with the chassis ( the wheels and frame that the container sits on during transport). Driver is directed to specific container yard( there are a lot of them). He gets in line for a new chassis. Then gets into another line for a serviced container. Then the driver is off to chase another load. It's chaos, but it's worked for many years. Something very fishy is going on. There is nothing that has happened....including the lockdowns that could cause such a backup. The dock workers and drivers worked thru the lockdowns because they were deemed essential workers. Something is up!

My husband is part of some truck driver groups on FB. One of the drivers posted a video yesterday because trucker shortages are being blamed for the bottleneck in the supply chain. However, he showed hundreds of truck drivers parked up in LA waiting to get loaded, and he said that the port stopped unloading ships. He was upset because the truck drivers were being blamed and nobody was showing that the port was full of trucks just waiting to get loaded. Some of them had been waiting over 2 days to get a load. There is Definitely something bigger wrong. Search the great reset from the world economic forum. I think this government is trying to destroy this country so they can impose their communist- Marxist agenda. It's crazy to watch this stuff happening in real time

I work at Port Elizabeth in New Jersey and this is definitely 100% manufactured we have no problems down there loading or offloading the ships even at times we're at full capacity there's been days where we have no ships and no activity going on and they say ships are sitting offshore I call BS.

There are 6 or 8 unloading cranes at the dock i could only see one working and it was going very slow. I have seen them unload much faster before.

A good friend of mine works at the port in Savanah GA. I asked him just a couple days ago... " what the hell is going on in California port's right now?" He responded" I'm not entirely sure but we're getting seriously backed up here as well. For some reason the port authority closed down 2 of our large docks for repairs "

I read an article last week that blamed the port workers union. They've slowed down. They all stop working at the same time for lunch and breaks instead of spacing them out. If you complain about sitting for 2 hours without being loaded then they don't load you at all. Ordering a group that's already slowed down to work extra isn't going to solve the problem.

I thought the problem was not enough trucks and drivers? How does this help fix the problem?
So they're going to penalize the shipping operators because they can't get trucks and trains to move their stuff. That makes no sense at all. No one will want to dock unless they KNOW they can get thousands of containers moved in 3 days.

This is how it is working today. (at some level ) .. Say a woman has 5 children. They are child bearing age and and they have produced say 2 children by time they are say 19 .. These 5 children never graduated from high school. . Now we have programs that pay you to attend classes to get a GED and go on to college. What becomes of the children... of these newly enrolled parents.. Grand ma opens a day care taking care of her grand children... Now the government pays her 1500 to 2000 / child / month... (perhaps not that much ) Now she is taking care of say 10 grand kids .. Many of which live with her 24/7 anyway... Now she is bringing in $20,000 per month.. Also gets government food assistance... Now when my Ex Chinese wife wanted to take an accounting course at the local 2yr school a minority student told her minorities go for free... Now many are drawing money to attend. . If one has been thrown in prison there are programs that pay you to attend classes and pay 100 % of your schooling .. Just show up. . (racial justice programs ).. So now they take say 10 credit hours to stay in the program .. So it takes years to get your way through college...
Your mother is making a few hundred thousand Dollars a year .. You are getting these child tax credits because of your income... All the food assistance ... HEEP to heat your home .. In NY state health insurance program ... Health insurance for free. in many cases ...

Then there are people like my brother who wishes he could work and does not like being on SSDI. They "give" him $15/month in food stamps - whatever it's called now - EBT. He was going to turn it down but they told him that as long as he gets anything, he is eligible for HEEP. Although he can get HEEP, he still burns wood that he splits and stacks himself to reduce the amount of oil he uses

Funny my parents thought I was nuts and believed conspiracy theories and now that everything I said was going to happen a few years ago has happened now I think they are the conspiracy theorists.
