Any trappers in the Tioga area have a coyote skull they're just tossing?
You ever have the video running on your mono before jumping on the scope?Went out Sat PM with a buddy.
After arriving at the first stand location he picked out I knew we weren't going to see anything as we had no cover from the full moon, the wind was gusting and it was freaking cold.
Nothing wants to be out in gusty cold conditions.
After dropping him at his house I defrosted my hands and decided to hunt in wooded terrain where the wind wasn't going to be an issue.
First set was a bust, not even an owl, but no wind and much flatter terrain with pine trees to hide in the moon shadow.
After about 10 minutes on the second set I heard/felt something was watching me from my six and panned around just in time to see a dog coming to a full stop 20 feet away on the trail I was on.
It jumped a log and went into the woods.
It didn't go back into the woods far enough before stopping to look in the direction of the call.
Small female.
When I went to retrieve it, I found that there were two sets of fresh tracks.
I never saw the other dog.

Once I spot a target the mono goes into the chest pouch and I'm on the scope. You ever have the video running on your mono before jumping on the scope?
I've thought about doing it to make my video's more interesting, or just to add to them.
Though, the AGM Fusion mono is a pain in my ass when it comes to remembering which 2 buttons to hold down to turn it on.
Maybe if I attempted it more often, it would become natural.
Dead right there, nice!Got a few hours in the field before the rain came down.
Heard this lone male calling as we were setting up for the first stand.
143 yds.

I might switch back to the Taipan because of the wider view. 2 power isn't so great when using the FuzionOnce I spot a target the mono goes into the chest pouch and I'm on the scope.
Recording a kill isn't the priority, so if it happens it happens.
I'm usually a one man show, so running the call, spotting and shooting are enough things to worry about doing.
I don't want to risk losing a dog because I was worried about recording a kill.
I bet many a coyote's life was spared because of that.
The Fuzion is a PIA to start recording.
The Taipan and V2/Seeker models have a much easier one button function.

The new Seeker/Taipan V2 is an awesome update to the Taipan line.I might switch back to the Taipan because of the wider view. 2 power isn't so great when using the Fuzion
My buddy is deadly with his 22-250 Impulse Predator.Dead right there, nice!
And here I sit with my mid 1980s, rusty bolt action Winchester model 70 Sporter .223 and the absolute cheapest Russian ammo I can find. Here's my 2024 Fall season Impulse Predator rigs.
Front Primary Predator is sporting a fresh 18" Preferred CF barrel with Titanium linear comp chambered in 20-250, Factory stock and Halo X50 scope.
Rear backup Predator is the 20" X-Caliber CF .243 death machine, Boyd's At one Thumbhole stock and Rix L3 scope.
Both set up for the superior left handed shooter.
This is the first time in 30+ years that I haven't used some type of .243 chambered rifle as my primary on opening day.
Of course I had to load up some fresh ammo to feed the Predators.
20-250 - 55 Grn Berger HPBT, H4350, Formed Win brass and WLRP primer.
.243 - 70 Grn Nosler BT, H4350, Win brass and WLRP primer.
Good luck to All.

No need to step up your game If it gets the job done. And here I sit with my mid 1980s, rusty bolt action Winchester model 70 Sporter .223 and the absolute cheapest Russian ammo I can find.
I need to step up my game!!
But, it has put down a LOT of yotes, raccoons, whistle pigs and even a few deer back in the day.
Put out a bait pile and a camera.Need to pickup a call and give this a go. My uncles property is loaded with them. He shot three of them pretty much right next to his house this year. The fields are all yote tracks. Not sure I want to spend the cash on a fox pro since IDK how often I'll be hunting them.
Any good caller is as expensive as the next one. I have 2. A foxpro X24 and a lucky duck roughneck. Thermals is what will cost u some money. Unless your plan is to hunt during the dayNeed to pickup a call and give this a go. My uncles property is loaded with them. He shot three of them pretty much right next to his house this year. The fields are all yote tracks. Not sure I want to spend the cash on a fox pro since IDK how often I'll be hunting them.
4 sets, yote was killed on the first set.
It was kind of a brutal night. Heavy winds and in the 20's. So it felt like it was below Zero.
Thankfully, I wear a heated jacket and heated mittens. I stayed warm.
I'll show the video tomorrow. It's time for bed
44lbs, 1st one we ever bothered to weigh. I always have a scale, just never weigh them.
