Prepardness groups throughout the state

I bring this up evertime the 2a feels tgreatened, and im really terrible at committing to things, buuuuttttt..... we really need to keep the idea alive that we should have regional prepardness groups or a network for if/when the shit hits the fan.

I know most of the guys that are within about 30 minutes of me, and most of us have each others cell numbers. One of tgese days id like to encourage everyone to do the same and they're area, and if we could get organized enough we could get it all under one umbrella and have one large preparedness Network.

Again, I've been talking about this for years and I haven't done anything with it but the thought is always there in my head.

My area is the NY Militia 7th Battalion. The NYM in general has very high expectations of most of the group. Meaning, if you can't be to each and every meeting, training, calling out, for whatever reason, they don't want to be involved with you much. They expect that if you're called in from the far western part of the state to be in the Catskills area on a couple days notice, you better be there. Most of us from the 7th kinda splintered off into our own "Irregular" group. We want to be more community oriented. We'll be much more useful to our own AO than 200 miles away.

My problem with commitment is a number of things, I have a young family, I coach my kids sports, and I have a demanding job. So for now I just want to have a number of us Loosely connected where maybe we can get together on occasion or maybe take some training classes together.

That's the boat I'm rowing in. Except different physical injury. Wanting to join a local this spring. I'm committed although I may not be able to make every event unless SHTF. Then my 24hr service is there, 100%.

In a situation like that you want to know 100% for sure who you are dealing with. A little no shit story...The guys I'm with had a former member that was a bit off his rocker. They realized something was off by his comments and they way he talked about some shit. They booted him. Not a month or so later the FBI showed up to talk to a couple members about him, so they explained why they kicked his ass to the curb. No more problems. The FBI payed him a visit as well, I hear it didn't go as smoothly. Be careful who you associate with until you can trust them without doubt!

The BOL is not one per se.. it's more of a private campsite on the lake with solar a well and garden.
But it is a place to go.

There is no MAG ( mutual aide group) set up. More like the owner says" come on over" if something happens .
We've discussed SHTF type stuff in the past.
He's 70. His kids were in the service as officers so I'm not sure if they plan on having to dig latrines .
They have a surprise coming if they don't

Cool, you're welcome. Didn't take long to do but finding the episode that I could grab off the net was a bitch. Many sites embed videos in a way that a lot of time you can't download them very easily. Apparently worried about theft or some shit lmao. Found a way around it anyway

Nothing wrong with a campsite as a BOL if it's set up right and located in a good location. We kinda have 2 depending on what happens. Either our own property out in easy jesus or another on top of a hill,, which is more of a campground that we can stay out of sight and at the same time monitor anyone who comes within a mile of the place.

I'm very fortunate in that we have a group of what we like to call, "LMP" (like minded people). We meet monthly, train often, and all bring something unique to the table. We limit our group to "invited" people only. We had 1 fella who we ended up "disassociating" with. He just seemed to be going off the rails and wanted to go on the offensive, when sitting tight made more sense to us. He didn't like that approach so we let him go his own way. We have our BOL set, secure, stocked and able to be protected. We keep our group small so that we know who will be responsible for what, we are not interested in getting much larger than where we are right now, and that is fine with us. Our intent is to be self-sufficient, and able to handle our affairs going forward. We have the capacity to be "off-grid" for quite a long time, complete with livestock at our BOL.

It is VERY important to not wait, as life will always get in the way... and before you know it the SHTF, and a phone call won't be good enough. You MUST at least get together and go over expectations, as when it really turns to crap.... cell service may be down (either by natural, or man-made causes!!).

I am like @MoMan on this one. I tend to spend quality time with these LMP. I wouldn't say we have a group, there are a BUNCH of us that hang out, shoot a bit and toss ideas around with each other. We teach each other and learn from others in the group. Everyone among us brings stuff to the table. Like Mo, only the well vetted and invited share a seat at our table.
