I'm thinking a network might be better. Known and trusted individuals whom would be able to depend on each other, and perhaps barter, one hand washes the other so to speak. So and so's low on .22LR's, can anyone spare any? Water? Bandaids? Etc.

For what it's worth guys, I'm at the point in my life where I would not have time to commit to a routine schedule. But, you should at least have the names and numbers of people in your area and at least keep in contact. Even something like a group text and some loose plans in case of emergencies is a good idea for starters. Once my kids are older I would definitely be looking into setting up something little more regimented.
Down by us we've got some good training companies that perhaps we can arrange a private training class with once or twice a year.

Like everyone else, my locale has advantages and disadvantages. Although rural, many here are fuddish. They only own a pump shotgun (rifles legal here for deer), shoot maybe a box of slugs with it before deer season, and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. I grew up here. Not many ppl I don't know. Not many I'd share a foxhole with either.
I'll tell you, it took a very long time, a lot of patience and researching to get to where I am now. Example, I met a guy while working at Gander. He would come in every Friday and we would shoot the bull. As time went on, we discussed deeper things and really found out that we were absolutely on the same page. After nearly nine months, we agreed to swap numbers. It took an additional three months before we met up and really talked about things. A year.

Right. I know ppl who are on the same page, and have known them for years. I know who I can trust. It's the very few who have actually prepped. When the shtf, don't show up in my driveway beggin for guns and ammo medical supplies etc. cuz YOU saw the signs and kept your head in the sand, and YOU were too cheap and lazy to prep.

I met a few of their people a couple of years ago. I have been to some of their training. Good shit indeed.

At this point, the herd has thinned out considerably and I don't trust anyone but family. Fact is I have only met a couple guys on from this forum, but I trust more people here more, without knowing you personally, than most of the people I know. Ah well.

I know very few people that are ready for a shtf scenario. Love the people that say they are coming to my house if something happens. Sure come on in, I plan on eating you.

I think it is impossible to be ready for SHTF. Too many unknowns. The best that one can hope for is that he is more ready than the next guy.

I don’t think I could bunker down in my area. I live down the road from nine mile point nuclear plants. How long will it take for it to leak radiation? Idk but I don’t want to find out.

No reason to. A wise adult never volunteers info.
My problem is I can count the number of people outside of family on one hand (with a few empty slots) that I am comfortable/trust enough to sit across the table from them in a public place with my back to the door. Two I have been to war with and one has been my “partner in crime,” so to speak since we were teenagers. I know those people well enough to trust my life to them.
Like minded people are great to talk to but, I am hesitant to rely on anyone outside of those select few. I am a suspicious fellow, always have been always will be, I suppose.

Like others have expressed, I have serious trust issues. Networking and having some connections is good but it takes time and experience to build trust. I’ve lived in the same spot for 34 years as have some of my neighbors. I’d think having a trusted group in your immediate area would be important. After that I have people I know and trust in my town. After that I have trusted people spread out a bit more.
I think it’s impossible to be completely prepared for shtf because who’s to say what the situation could be. Too many variables. I like to look at more minor things such as snow storms, wind storms, localized flood, long term power outages as mini shtf drills. You can see how well you are prepared. You can interact with and maybe help out some neighbors. See how they do. You’ll see who else is out helping. Who has what skills or equipment. This obviously won’t work everywhere but it’s my plan.
