Correct. But what masks do is limit the distance of droplets projected. They only work when they are used along with distancing.
If I’m talking to you and we are both in a car together, no mask other than a properly sealed N95 can work if worn correctly. The droplets of other masks will escape through the sides and over the bridge of the nose to be inhaled by you since you are so close.
But if we are both wearing one while talking and I’m feet away from you at a job site, the masks will limit the distance of my droplets traveled to you and you will be fine if they do not reach you compared to neither of us wearing anything and my droplets are projected right to you a distance away unimpeded.
Masks aren’t a stop all end all. But they limit exposure in certain instances when distancing is involved. If you do not get infected because we are both wearing one while keeping distance, you do not get infected and go home and infect your family who will in turn infect others.
It’s like a wall. Illegals will still get through. But all avenues aren’t open like previous. They can non longer cross where they once crossed. Now they have to go around the wall to other areas where they is no wall. It slows the flow.

Based on what I've seen, this would be the time for him to take the "therapeutic" regimen. Based on studies, I do not believe that hydroxychloroquine does much for those who are seriously sick. But, there may be a benefit for those who take it full-strength (as was recommended for SARS-COV-2) for 5 days immediately after diagnosis. The drug could still possibly decrease the duration of symptoms or possibly reduce the severity of the infection's course.
