Watch the rally video again. The camera pans to a telehandler holding pa speakers, stage right that was presumably hit by a bullet and spewing hydraulic oil towards the stage. That would be an amazingly intricate detail for someone to fake and can only mean the projectile came from stage left

Yeah, when you watch the video and see the instant before the shot is heard and Trump flinches, that he had just cocked his head ever so slightly...

An inch, half inch... And we are all having a different conversation. Newest part of the story, that the cop who confronted the shooter disrupted his layout and aim, etc., maybe had an effect too. Simply amazing luck and fortune! And thank goodness for it.

Doesn't dismiss how he was able to be there, and how he was spotted by security teams and allowed to dwell, and all the utter cumulative failures already noted. Because if it were all entirely up to them, Trump is being mourned right now... Crazy shit!

If this guy managed to get past the secret service, then Trump better ditch all of the secret service for private security.

I don't normally arm chair weigh in on this stuff, but there is no way this wasn't a total failure. Sure, Trump didn't die. But it was close.

And someone innocent did die, so it was a failure to stop the attempt. A failure at being obviously prepared.

Biden needs to be doing more than saying "cool it down." He needs to be on the war path to make sure this cannot happen again.

With the rhetoric coming from the media that "democracy is at stake" and "if Trump wins the world is going to end", I think most of us on this site would have been surprised if there *wasn't* an attempt on his life before the election.

You can't take a country full of left wing whackadoodles add in a generous helping of that sort of over the top rhetoric and stir without expecting this.

I'll be surprised if there isn't another attempt.
