.357 mag
I've been dealing with the SP about the mag lok issue with the M1a platform.I don't even understand the need to epoxy the magazine into the gun. Installing a modified mag release which prevents the magazine from being removed unless you remove the trigger group should be more than suffice.
You remove the trigger group, it is no longer a functioning rifle let alone a firearm.
It's the same thing as installing an AR mag lock on an AR. I have never heard of anyone epoxying their magazine after installing a mag lock so why would you need to do the same for the M1A?
Because of it's easily removable trigger group, changing a compliant TG to a non compliant TG is very easily done and that's not an acceptable modification to them.
Noone wants to temp fate, So it's easier to take off the threads + FH and take away all doubt.
I have a fixed mag solution, but it's only good for open sight or scout rifles with a forward mounted scope, as you need to load with stripper clips.
It's like an AR mag lok , but it's not approved by the SP lawyers, because they won't ever put anything in writing anymore, as their boss is King Cuomo and they have state pensions.
I've loaned a couple out to friends behind enemy lines, as the local gun shops don't want to risk their license's selling anything not approved by the SP. In reality, it's easier to modify an AR10 to make it compliant, so you can still have a semi auto 308 if you want, just not a beautiful M1A.
Very nice rifle by the way.
