coupons would be nice for me. Gander is about a hour away from my county clerks, runnings is a little closer. Gander is about 1 hour away from the county clerks then a 1 hour back to pick up my pistol. Be nice to save a trip.
It’s the same for us here in Onondaga cnty.Dang, screw all that coupon crap.
Here in Chautauqua we just pay for the handgun at the LGS, bring receipt to pistol clerk (open tues-friday 8:00-4:30).
Then bring green card to LGS and youre good to go.
I can do it all in less than an hour.
Oh Arizona I’m jealous. My wife’s friend and her husband live there and he posts gun pictures on his Facebook account and you should see the shit he has. Suppressed Ar’s, suppressed sig 320’s man I’m jealous. He’s dorky as all get out but I’m jealous. He’s like one of the countries top rated radiologists or something crazy. He’s super freaking smart. Well he left NYS smarter than I am.The wife and I each carry 2 coupons in out wallet. Never know when you're going to run across a deal.
Last December we stopped in the new place in Henrietta just to browse, and she found a pistol she liked. Since we always carry the coupons she was able to just do the 4473/NICS, and walk out with her new gun. Stopped down at the clerk's the next week to add it to the permit.
All your handguns are registered on your permit, but no long guns.
It's about as good as it gets in NY.
Once we get to AZ, it will be legal to just find someone selling a handgun in the classifieds and pay them cash, that's it. Getting one from an FFL will be 4473/NICS and you're good to go.
Most of the country works like AZ.
Yea, all the local gun stores down there have SOT licenses so they can sell suppressors and stuff.Oh Arizona I’m jealous. According to how penal law 400 is , this is the way it’s supposed to work. Because to take possession of a pistol and be covered under it’s exemption, it must be listed on your license with the make, model, caliber, and serial number.I don't know. I think you guys upstate have it to easy.
Go to store. Buy pistola. Mail copy of receipt with requisite form, or drop off in person. Either way, pay fee. Oh, and don't forget the self-addressed stamped envelope.
Wait 3 weeks to anytime just short of infinity to get judge signed "coupon" in mail.
Go back to gun store. Complete 4473, hope you get a proceed. Take gun home.

Yeah, well all of us up here hate you all down there!Even though I used to live in NY this stuff is unbelievable in retrospect. I don't miss it at ALL.
Got it, thats a pretty good system.Except I have 2 coupons in my wallet right now just in case. I don't need an extra trip to the clerk.
When I stop down to add my next gun to my permit, I'll replace the coupon I used at the same time.
Just did a Livingston coupon yesterday, you take pistol home, but you can't carry it till they put on your permit...Whenever the permit office decides to open..
What I was told when I took my pistol safety course, was that about the only thing the counties shared in the whole process was the application form itself. Other than that, every county had different application processes and ways of handling amendments Etc.. ass backwards for something that is supposed to be a state issued license. It makes me wonder how it would go for someone, from say, Livingston County buying a pistol in Rensselaer County and handing the ffl a pre bought coupon on the spot. Or if someone from Albany County went to a store in Livinston and told the ffl there that it will likely be a month to never that they would get their coupon from their judge. I mean, would ffls in one county recognise how other counties handle amendments? If I did this in Westchester (and you can't), I'd be considered a felon.
That is if the clerk is open.Dang, screw all that coupon crap.

Thats the kicker. That is if the clerk is open.
Be happy op you will still have it much faster than the serfs in ulster. 9-12 wks. to get coupon. That’s after you bring receipt for pistol in to start the process.
Yeah OC was a pain. 1-2 weeks.Downstate you have to wait for the judge to sign off on the green coupon which is a purchase authorization, get the gun put on your license as per Penal law 400 to take possession of it, and then pick it up from the FFL. Without either, you can’t pick up the gun. The huge delay is the judge signing off on the coupon.
New Sheriff, and the county legislature is now almost all commie libtards.Wow...that long in Ulster these days? I thought it used to be a lot faster than that.
You have the desert and can shoot out there. From what I understand there are plenty of places to shoot in AZ.Yea, all the local gun stores down there have SOT licenses so they can sell suppressors and stuff.
There are a couple of edge cases where NY is better, but not many.
The biggest 2 I know of are:
A business there can post a no guns sign that has the force of law. Here, all they can do is kick you out if they find out.
The distance you need to be from a neighbors house to setup your range is further in AZ.
Other than those 2, it's better in every way.
We have enough property and our neighbors will be far enough away that I can build a decent range at the back of the property. You have the desert and can shoot out there. From what I understand there are plenty of places to shoot in AZ.
The no gun signs having power of law is stupid.
Do you know what the charge would be if you violated that sign law?
There are only a few Counties that will issue purchase coupons in advance...None in the north Country will.As far as I know, we can’t get coupons in Oswego county. That means two trips to buy a pistol
