Is it legal for a NYS resident to purchase a long gun (bolt action) through a dealer in PA?
It is legal. Finding one in PA that will do it is another matter. There are some but most just don't want to deal with it.Yes as long as the gun is legal in NYS.
Over a bolt gun though? How could there possibly be an issue with bolt guns?It is legal. Finding one in PA that will do it is another matter. There are some but most just don't want to deal with it.
There isn't.Over a bolt gun though? How could there possibly be an issue with bolt guns?
So why wouldn't a PA shop sell a bolt gun to a NYer is what I'm asking? There isn't.
Some just don't want to deal with a NYer same as some companies won't deal with NYers for the shipping of legal items. So why wouldn't a PA shop sell a bolt gun to a NYer is what I'm asking?
That's bullshit, there's no reason for it, there is no law or liabilty against and of selling a bolt gun to a NY citizen. There is no hassel, only prejudice and laziness. Uncalled for! FUAC!Some just don't want to deal with a NYer same as some companies won't deal with NYers for the shipping of legal items.
If I remember correctly, there was a thread at the old site about someone trying to buy one in Walmart and failed. Then others started mentioning the same thing at other places.
I'm looking to acquire a Sauer in 222 Remington and the Eurooptic store in Montoursville has them in stock. I guess I will call ahead or send another email to make sure that they will be willing to sell to a NYer.
No real legal liability, but if Cuomo decides to sue, he could put some small dealer out of business long before they win. That's bullshit, there's no reason for it, there is no law or liabilty against and of selling a bolt gun to a NY citizen. How is going to sue, by what basis? Not his jurisdiction and he has no authority over interstate commerce especially when the entire transaction takes place outside his shithole state. No real legal liability, but if Cuomo decides to sue, he could put some small dealer out of business long before they win.
Didn't stop Bloomberg. How is going to sue, by what basis? Not his jurisdiction and he has no authority over interstate commerce especially when the entire transaction takes place outside his shithole state.
Did he win the suit?Didn't stop Bloomberg.
Nope, but it cost those dealers a crapload of $$$ to win.Did he win the suit?
Why didn't they counter sue then?Nope, but it cost those dealers a crapload of $$$ to win.
What would your round trip driving expense and time cost you as to buying it and shipping it to a NY FFL and transfer fee?
It's more of a timing thing. I would like to be able to drive down and handle the rifle to make sure that I like it then bring it home with me so that I have time to work up some loads for a woodchuck tournament next wkend.
About a year ago I was in a Walmart in Pa. They had a Mossberg 500 on sale. When I got to the point to pay for it they asked for a Pa driver's licence. When I confessed that I was from NY they said they could not sell to non-residents. Could just be Walmart.
Because they already got as much justice as they could afford. Were you under the impression that being in the right makes a difference in the courts ?Why didn't they counter sue then?
