.40 S&W
It’s been a few months since I’ve shot so I decided to take my new Wrangler, P365 and LCP II out. I’m not a pistol marksman by any means, but here’s what I got at around 10 yards followed by some thoughts:
The Wrangler is my first single action “cowboy” gun and it was difficult to get my shots where I wanted them. That said it’s a pretty cool gun (as you can see I got the shit/puke colored one) and at $200 I feel like it’s good value over the Single Six unless you shoot a lot of single action .22. Fit and finish seems really good and it runs smooth. Transfer bar is also a nice safety feature and made dropping hammer on live rounds fuss free.
Here’s the LCP II with a lot of low left shots. I had a bunch of issues when I first bought it (like 2-4 FTE and failure to go into battery per mag for ~500 rounds). Sent it back to Ruger where they replaced pretty much everything. I shot it after getting it back and all seemed good. Unfortunately, as I was shooting this time I had 2 FTE and 3 failures to go into battery out of a hundred rounds (PMC FMJ and Fiocchi JHP). Happened with three different mags too.
I was going to send it to innovative arms to get the sight upgrade but at this point I’m going to write it off as a lemon. 5% failure rate doesn’t inspire confidence. That being said it’s a really nice gun when it works and I’m almost tempted to buy another one.
Every time I shoot the P365 I’m amazed at how accurate it is. I’ve owned all the big name subcompacts and I am by far most accurate with the P365 probably followed by the Shield. I’m not sure if it’s the trigger or grip but I shoot it more accurately than my G19. I’ll admit I’m a bit worried about the longevity, given mine is an early build date, but I sent it in to get the striker replaced just in case.
The only “issue” I’ve had in maybe 500 rounds has been slide not locking back, but that’s a user error as I’ve found with thumbs forward grip my firing hand thumb sits on the slide lock. Easily remedied.
To the right is the new Raven Concealment holster. They’re minimalist trigger guards for AIWB. Not the most robust system but it sure does make the pistol disappear.
