What is everyone's opinion on a quality red dot? Looking for something for a new build (5.56/.223 if you were wondering).
No budget. Aimpoint Micro.
Budget. Primary Arms or Holosun Micro Dot.
Me personally...What are your thoughts on the Aimpoint Pro? The limited research I've done seems to show that folks like that more.
Me personally...
I don’t like the extra bulk.
I seriously considered Eotech at one point based on reviews, and then I looked though one... My astigmatism made it utterly unusable. I wound up buying a Sig Sauer Romeo 5; inexpensive, and does what I need it for.If you have astigmatism the 'red dot' will not be clear to you in laser type scopes like Aimpoint and Eotech. The prism type red dot's will work though, and there a few good ones out there. Vortex makes one that has a 1 MOA I believe.

I don't have one but the EoTechs were reportedly found to have a significant amount of thermal drift
Thanks. Good to know. This has since been fixed and they are now about the same as others in the same class
The Pro is actually a rebranded Comp M2 which was/is a very solid optic. But Holosun seems to be the company to beat for budget optics that punch above their weight. If you have a budget in the $400 range (which the Aimpoint Pro is in) check out the Trijicon MRO which has a reputation for durability and performance as well as some potential drawbacks you should asses in person. What are your thoughts on the Aimpoint Pro? The limited research I've done seems to show that folks like that more.
