That's why I spec'd a parked fish and either polymer or laminate furniture on that dream lever gun I laid out. Simple and hard to screw up. I happen to think park on wood is very sharp, very old school military.
In this age I think bluing is best left to fancy, presentation grade/collectable stuff.
Though I do love the looks of a finely blued revolver in wood grips.

The 336 for example is an honest working man's gun with those traditional lines but they also give you that side eject and the pistol grip style stock which are more functional than the top eject and straight grip stock of some of their competitors.

I actually prefer not only the function but also the look of the pistol grip.

Whoever was in charge of running Remington lived under a rock. I guess they didn't know guns are pretty popular now and they could have found a way to stay out of bankruptcy... :banghead:

What boggles my mind is why companies such as Remington and Winchester thought it was okay to ignore the market and allow their product lines to stagnate and slip into obscurity while companies such as Smith & Wesson, Savage and Ruger stayed with and listened to the market and are doing very well.
I won't include Colt since corporate incompetence has clearly been written into the company charter since the beginning.

Winchester will be the next to fall, the only thing keeping them in the green right now is the government ammunition contract to run the LC plant. I wonder whose dick Winchester had to suck to pull that off?

Little dated (2017) but they were carrying over $1.3B in debt, including about $100M in retirement and product liability obligations against an asset base of only $850M (excludes about $100M in goodwill and intangibles). Hard to sell your way out of that with a product that generally retails well under $1000...

Remington management were a disaster. They pretty much sabotaged every single project and initiative for the last 20 years.
30 Rar wrong bolt choice and marketing failure.
They invented the 6.8 SPC and abandoned that, thanks god ARP, wilson combat, LWRC, SSI, Federal and others came to the rescue with a 6.8 SPCII chamber, rifles and ammo.
They took msrlin and messed up quite a few rifles.
The 7-08 another amazing round that was a total marketing failure from Remington Whoever has this round knows how good it is including long range. Thanks god other ammo and rifle makers took notice and created a great assortment of rifles and ammo but long range rifles and ammo are very few for this round.
Should we continue?

If they exploited the "Gun Culture 2.0" market, Remington might've had the capital weather that storm and restructure.

I may be mistaken but Winchester rifles are presently being produced by Browning. If you can find a New Haven Winchester that is a good thing. Winchester was sold to the employees which marketed them under the US Repeating Arms Co. brand (USRAC). USRAC made some money saving changes at the cost of the product quality. I believe they only lasted 6 years before Winchester was sold again.

I always thought it was the reverse. You're probably right however. Still, how is Browning doing? I assume its just a name owned by a corporate holding outfit at this point. Maybe that is the problem, these historic brands getting bought out by entities that have no understanding of firearms, thinking iron and wood guns from the cowboy era are all anybody will want or that that's all the they think guns are. A firearms company must have modern offerings to stay relevant.

To be fair Remington jumped head first pretty fast into the whole "MSR" concept and started a line of hunting AR10s... they didn't seem to do so well

Browning and Winchester rifles are owned my FN last I knew.
