I just would not go around saying I hunt with those calibers on pistols because most seasoned hunters, conservation officers and ethical hunters
will not like it and will not take seriously anything I say. Hunting with the wrong calibers in places is what contributed to caliber restrictions.
The 308 would be more adequate and you will get A BLAST. literally!

For that you have compact carbines, big bore levers and hunting revolvers along with some semi-auto pistols.

It is not just me, many ballistics and practical shooters and enthusiasts will tell you the same.
The pistols in bolt action have very limited following due to the lack of versatility.
Out of all the re-loaders and wildcatters is a small portion that at the same time they are a small portion of the
entire shooting and reloading community themselves like shooters.

horrible choice of calibers for that type of crowd. 6.5mm and 7mm TCU those are affordable pistol calibers with some punch for short
barrels. The 30 herret from a 6.8 SPC is also another super efficient round. Actuall the 6.8SPC will do so much better at anything they
are trying to do with out of the box ammo. Even a lever action 357 carbine or pistol will be a lot more realistic and versatile.

A Remington 700 pistol brings nothing to the table neither those calibers.

Hmmm. With this I can take it on a day long hike. You know the type that you don't want to carry a 48 inch long rifle.

Hmmm. With this I can use it (if I lived in a free state) for nighttime coyote hunts loaded with the .300 Barack Obama and not have to put an 8 inch long suppressor on top of a 22 inch barrel.

Hmmm. With this I can legally carry it loaded and concealed with my pistol license in my truck when I go four-wheeling in case a target of opportunity comes my way.

Of the 4 active dimensions of terminal effectiveness (killing) one gives up 2 or more. The 223 not as bad but still.
I would say for the smallest deer at the closest range one might be successful but why to compromise so much?
I understand in an emergency situation, even a 22LR to the neck like poachers do but otherwise will not be able to match
bullets and terminal properties to medium game with room to feel good about it.
Can they be used? you bet. Are these good recipes? Absolutely not.
Why would anyone think this is ok is quite perplexing.

the rifle, sell the barrel, register the receiver and the bottom plate and chassis or pistol kits are also available.
A lot more versatile for that kind of folks. That is why they use them.
One can even have the same firearm do both rifle and pistol roles with a few minutes for a barrel swap.

You don't get it do you? What if I don't want a fucking handgun or long rifle that's 40 plus inches long of any kind? What if I want a pistol with an arm brace that for all intentive purposes is really a short barreled rifle that I can shoulder and fit in a backpack? Jeez man.

Don't give me that bullshit that a 75 gr Gold Dot or a 70 gr TSX or TTSX from a 10.5 inch barrel can't take a deer or a coyote or a .300 BO 110 gr going at 2200 fps can't either.

You wouldn't hesitate taking a deer at 300 yards going at about 2200 fps with a .308 147 gr now would you? So why is a .300 BO not sufficient at 50 to 100 yards going at about 2200 fps?

And if you get it in .308 with a 12.5 inch barrel it's going at about 2500 fps with a 147 gr at 100 yards. A lot faster with a 110 gr.

How come you didn't pick out one of their three other .300 BO bullets to go 2375 from a 16 inch barrel? It's right there on the same website you cherry picked the load from.

Since that's been debunked now tell me the velocities of a 70 gr TSX or TTSX or 75 gr Gold Dot from a 10.5 inch barrel. Those go below 2200 fps too right?


After that give me the velocities from a .308 from a 12.5 inch barrel.
