No legal precedent was set. They settled because they didn't want to go to trial. It's probably the insurance companies paying out and their lawyers probably had a say in the decision to settle. A settlement means no one "wins" because no court case happens. The suing parties were told, "here's a bucket of money, now go away and shut your mouth."

You know how Liberals decide not to take some court cases they lose up to appeal because the appellate court might rule against them and lead to setting precedent against them in a higher court? That's probably one of Remington's considerations. If they lost, it would have been a terrible precedent set, the court case probably would have been tremendously expensive, and if they lost, they probably would've had to pay more.

The problem with the case is first off the shooter didn’t select the gun his mother did. There is no one in their right mind that would have said guilty or negligent on this case. This was only allowed to go forward because how horrific the crime was. Insurance companies settled this and will pay for it for whatever reason. Also they claim video games have an effect on this too so will they sue video game makers? Why haven’t they done this?

As I understand it, Remington is defunct. It was the insurers that settled. Bad decision. Had it gone to court, it is reasonable to expect that the plaintiffs would have lost.
