Theft of services is a criminal offense involving obtaining services through an illegal means. Like larceny, robbery, and embezzlement, theft of services is a type of stealing. Unlawful activities that amount to theft of services include:

• Staying at a hotel and intentionally fail to pay
• Obtaining a service using a credit card that was stolen
• Using the bus, subway, train, taxi, or any other public transportation service without paying
• Obtaining service from a utility company or a telecommunication company by using a decoder or some other fraudulent means, or by using a cancelled access device.
• Accessing services without paying for them

I’m not looking to fight or argue with you either. I know how it works but I’m disagreeing with the way it works. Funny how staying in a hotel and not paying is a crime but staying in an apartment and not paying isn’t a crime.
I’ll bet if the Marriott calls and says Jim smith in room 209 hasn’t paid his bill and over stayed his stay the cops would go there and evict him. I get it’s different but in the same respects it’s not different.
Again I’m just disagreeing with the way this entire thing is set up.

I would rather the landlords get shafted than all of NY residents.

Either way we will get shafted in the long run. If the land loses don’t get paid back they will lose their property and maybe there won’t be enough places to rent out. Then the government will buy these places or build more housing for these lowlife scum. Hochul already said she plans to build another 800,000 low income houses. All I know is the tax payers will lose.

Its not always fair to just chalk it up to "well you voted for it...". I don't always agree with everything that someone i voted for says or does. Its about finding the one that you most closely identify with.

It was government policy that caused this cluster fuck. They need to do something to make it right. And there are also plenty of dirt bags who took full advantage of the situation as well. They had the ability to pay and intentionally didn't because there would be no consequences. Landlords were helpless at that point.

Collectively the government implements the will of the people. If not it should be abolished as per the declaration of independence.

Now that doesn't mean it does individually, but collectively the voters get what they deserve.

Hell, half the voters did not support the current government, but they support the system that produced it.

So, either accept the blame, or pick up a rifle.

Yep, I am positive, like I said, many ways to get rid of a non paying tenant. Ways that do not need to include eviction or the Police.
