Think I've looked but can't find ( I am male), how to reply to a post without quoting the origonal post?

There should be a text box at the bottom of the thread you can type a clean reply into.
Edit, sorry- there should be a "reply" link in each post in a thread- click the one in the post you want to reply to.

That is ok to reply to ALL the replies, but if you want to respond to an individual reply it's back to backspacing.

If you don’t quote it, how do they know you are replying to them in particular?

I would like, or comment, on an Individual post or comment on a post without including the post or comment in the new comment. When commenting ridiculoussting that is long or contains pictures deleting it all to leave a one word comment is ridiculose. Someone posts the Bill of Rights, I want to approve without quoting.

Initially I found doing what you want to do a little confusing, as other forums I visit do it slightly differently. Or you might say they do it backwards from this site. Some other forums you must "click" a reply button first, then type your replay in the dialogue box that appears and when done "click" on something like "post reply".
On this forum you simple scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find an empty dialogue box with your avatar on the left side. It say's "write your reply" Simply type your message in the blank space.
Right below and to the right hand side of the dialogue box you just typed in you will see three choices in rectangular shaped boxes "post reply", "upload file" and " more options "
Simply "click" post reply and what you typed above will be posted. Some forums may have three steps as I noted above.
There are only two steps to post a reply without a quote. 1. type your message in the dialogue box
2. hit the post reply button
It is so simple that you might be trying to make it more difficult than it is. Take you time and look closely for what I have described.
If you do not see what I am talking about then you have somehow gotten set up differently and are seeing a different screen. But I doubt that is the case.

Understood, the reply goes into the chain. Replying to a reply while attempting to only comment is what I am trying. You can comment in a facebook post without having the whole thing in your comment.

I am not quite sure I understand what you are saying, but I think I might have it. You want to make a comment or make a direct reply about a specific post that someone made within a thread without quoting the post that you are commenting on. ( you are calling it replying to a reply). I use the word "commenting" because the repeated use of reply, replying and replying to a reply tends to get confusing.
One thing you could do is exactly what I did here in this post. Address the individual by their screen name. You could include after the screen name " in your post above " or reference the number of the post you are commenting on. ( here I am commenting or replying to your post #18 )
I think it is considerate to the site to refrain from always quoting if it is not necessary in an attempt to conserve bandwidth.
I don't do Facebook so I cannot comment or make a comparison between the forum and Facebook, or any of the other social media like Facebook. I avoid them like the plague.

@Brian Colt you cannot reply to comments inline, all replies go to the end of the thread. Typically if you want to reply to someone in particular you will either quote them (by clicking Reply) or tag them like I did here, using @ before their username. You can reply to multiple people by pushing the "+Quote" link then the "Insert Quotes" link above the Quick Reply box.
