Like I said before. I don't dispute the legality of it. What I do dispute is the carrying of a tool not appropriate for a situation as being said to be normal or said that it should be normal when it's not or ever was by the open carry activists.Of course there is a time and a place for everything in life. My point of all this was simple, fear and peoples hurt feelings are the reason why OC seems like such taboo. There are many that are not comfortable with OC of long guns and handguns, each to there own. Situations where the Police are called because of an Open Carrier of a guns is based nearly 100% on fear and ignorance.
And BTW, it should be the norm to carry a rifle if that is what one deems appropriate.
It's the same as these clowns with the masks and body armor. It's 100 percent legal but not normal to walk around with a ski mask and body armor while carrying a long gun. It's also not normal to carry an AK around the mall. It never was or never will be.
In places where legal and guns are accepted, people elect to either open or conceal carry a handgun instead. There is a reason for that. It's the same reason that those same citizens who have the ability to do so but elect not to don't want Police walking around with long guns or belt fed machine guns as a primary when just walking the beat or responding to a vehicular accident. Why? Because it's ridiculous.
That is why it isn't commonplace even where legal to do so and guns aren't taboo. If it becomes commonplace like you want it to be in Starbucks or the mall, should that long gun carrier wear a chest rig for his long gun magazines? How about a ski mask?
