But does the customer service rep also get blamed for not creating a situation supposedly amenable to changing policies? That's absurd.

LOL, of course they get blamed for it. Its completely unreasonable to expect them to do anything about it, but they are the only one available to blame.
Everyone who's actually responsible has hidden behind some committee or something. Untimately people are to blame when blame needs to be assigned. The left loves to trot out "greedy corporations" as the criminal, and excuse all the regular employees as merely cogs in the machine. The right does the same with "big government", but ultimately both are just a bunch of individual people doing what they are told. The customer blames the guy on the phone, the call center employee blames "management" his supervisor blames "upper management", when the media get ahold of it and the CEO finds out what the retarded policy actually means and he tries to find out where it came from it will magically be a comittee of people who all disagreed with it but went long with the recommendation anyway.
It is shitty, but it is how the world works. All you can do is try not to put yourself in a position where you are the guy who actually has to make it happen.
I am sure the guards as auchwitz divided themselves into 2 camps, the guys who herded them into the showers but didn't turn on the gas, and the guys who turned on the gas but didnt lock anyone in. Sure there were some monsters in the Nazi party, but withiut a crap ton of otherwise good people "just doing their job" they would have been nothing more than common criminals.

Although I've been the recipient of courtesy in the past multiple times , I can agree with that.
If it's fair for everyone it should eliminate rights violations. IE...illegal searches
How does observing a legitimate infraction, pulling the person over, having a decent interaction leading to a warning lead to illegal searches?
Either way professional curtesy will remain, that's something I'm not ashamed to say. Society hates cops. I get in enough trouble for nothing anyway. I'll always be willing to get in trouble to take care of our own.

Cops writing dui's then getting away with them because of their job is about the most hypocritical thing I have ever seen. It happens all the time. I have been in the car and seen it a few times personally.

I've let civilians go on DWI's plenty of times so my conscience is clean. If other cops are hypocrites that's their own doing.
I've also only one time arrested someone for a marijuana charge only, and that only happened only because when we went to hand it back to him he told me to go fuck my mother. I told that story on the other site.

Guy, there is a reason discretion for certain offenses are given, a 90 year old man who takes a leak on a side of building because he can't make it to bathroom shouldn't get a ticket where a health man who didn't want to be bothered to find a bathroom should.
Discretion is given in most laws and should be used often.

If there are exceptions like that, they should be reflected in the text of the law, not left up to pot luck as to what mood the officer you run into is in. Justice doesnt depend on its enforcers to be in a good mood, anything that does isn't justice.
The law has always allowed for humanity and always will. Robot world will never exist. Society overall will never accept a system that encodes every single possibility. Human reason and logic will always be part of the justice system.
Be polite and respectful to an officer or be a belligerent dick head and get that same treatment from the officer! Wouldn't that make a great world to live in!!
Too this I will say, do not break the law and a pull over should not occur.
I really wish it were that easy though. There are always those who take the "power" that has been given to them and go way overboard with it.

As for Quota's, my department does not have them either. There are work standards that must be met; but no standing in front of the boss if tickets are not written.
In the Army as an MP we had a system in which we needed to maintain an average 5 contacts per shift. Those contacts could be anything, criminal, V and T or personal.
I know some here like these kinds of stories because it "Proves" their childish point of something...
EVERY single profession out there has bad employees. LE is not excluded from that. How many teachers are on the Beach right now for wrong doings with children? How many Dr.s lose their ability to practice medicine? The list goes on and on.

For every moron who thinks that traffic enforcement is a victim-less crime( Very stupid term by the way), I can point out a story where an innocent is affected.
Take speeding... We have speed limit laws for reasons. Travel experts have come up with a system in which protects all within society while traveling on our roadways. They take everything into consideration; on/off ramps, traffic patterns, weather and much more. They figure that a good speed is "X MPH", if and when you go over that limit, your choice to follow the law, you run the risk of getting a citation. You do not have to like it. If you want these things changed, get involved; do whatever you can to get the laws changed. But most will not; they will just bitch about the other guy performing his duties!
My job is to Protect and Serve, I do that very well. I am to Protect and Serve all of society, if you drive like an asshole, you are risking others on the road; you will indeed get stopped by me...Everytime!
We focus traffic enforcement on accident prone locations. There's a whole complicated system of tracking it, and cops who write summonses off those areas are monitored and counseled if their numbers get too high.

Well, you must be an idiot if you believe that you guys are making a difference. People choose to drive, with that choice comes the opportunity that they may get into an accident. They have insurance to cover the damages. Who are you to stop that from happening?
You're right. I mean even when someone dies the family gets to sue so there's no valid reason to intervene to create safe driving situations.
