There are good employers and there are bad employers. There are also employers who care absolutely nothing about the worker that they'll move their plant to China for slave labor.

I'm not being rediculous at all, you're blatantly ignoring how awful unions are to the majority of small businesses. It is literally the same thing as kicking your door in and stealing your property while threatening to throw you in jail if you don't comply. And saying a business moves to China for slave labor is equally out there. You blame every problem on the employer and are refusing to look at the other side. There are enormous regulatory burdens on top of everything that you don't even see as an employee.

Honest answer, there were no Union Plumbing Wholesalers in the area. Unions may have had a place throughout our history, not so much any more.

How so? I pay for a cop because the government thinks I cannot protect myself from crime.

There are plenty of people who have worked for a long time that haven't benefited from a union. I've worked as a landscaper, lifeguard, and a bunch of other occupations before I graduated college and got a job as a systems administrator. I'm still fairly young, but I've got over 15 years of working. I don't see my profession unionize get any time soon, and I would like it to stay that way. None of those jobs had unions. I mentioned before how unions were a pain in my ass.
