This really has nothing to do with Sessions. This is 100% up to congress. All that Mr. Sessions is saying is that his Justice Department with enforce laws.
If the American people want the laws changed, we have a system in place to do just that!

Well, I think you're missing the point of what was said to some degree. Namely, the war on drugs is especially questionable from a perspective of personal liberty and troubling on those grounds.
I'm in agreement that really all that changed here was enforcement. Still, in changing that policy this may thrust the debate over the constitutionality back into the limelight and perhaps SCOTUS due to the pressure it will put on states who have their own policy.
It's also a bit of a double standard for the federal government to enforce some laws like ... oh, I don't know, letting states like NY and CA run rogue violating the second amendment (See "Shall Not Be Infringed"), yet decide to enforce federal drug policy.

Ron Paul has always been my guy, I've written him in for numerous elections. It was a sad day for me, and for liberty loving people nationwide, when he finally hung the gloves up. And he is right here, you can't have the government protecting you from yourself. This patchwork of marijuana laws is as stupid and tyrannical as the patchwork of gun laws. And to be clear, I don't partake of marijuana nor do I wish to. In fact I can't stand potheads and druggies in general, given my druthers I'd just as soon take a bat to their face than give the time of day. Regardless what's right is right and like Ron Paul I stand on the side of liberty. My policy is leave me alone and I'll leave........... the contents of your skull (or lack therof) intact.
I don't smoke pot. Never was my "thing". That being said, if Alcohol is legal - which is WAYYYYY more deadlier than pot, and people in the STATES vote it legal - I have no issue with it. The federal government has no business telling me WHICH beer I have to buy. They also have no business telling anyone that pot that is legal in their state is wrong. Prohibition taught us a lesson - Tell us NO, and we will tell you to GFY.

Yeah, prohibition taught US a lesson - fed's will find a way to morph their bureaucracy no matter what the decision of "the people". Revenuer's about to be laid off with the repeal of prohibition magically found a new mission regulating our firearms. And it was upheld via Miller. Some things never change. Now the IRS has the power to tell you which insurance you are required to buy, and once again SCOTUS upheld it. Their decisions are mostly about as sensible as "Simon Says" these days.

Constitutionality! Is using drugs, or owning a semi auto (even a full auto?) unconstitutional? And there you have it. I don't use drugs I got enough problems , but I support states rights, so long as it doesn't conflict with the constitution (CUMO, yeah you.)
I guess I don't rave about the injustices of drug laws because I have no dog in the fight. But if you ask me, I have to stand with Ron Paul and the libertarians on this. Of course if using drugs( or alcohol) causes you do endanger somebody, like driving a car , then that's a different thing .

I would guess its show that its not the reason why they support the law. So that people, and your Mom , know your not a drug user. ""moral superiority""has nothing to do with it . I support it because I think its unconstitutional ,not because I like or don't like it .
Using or don't using drugs can have a bearing on how you feel about it. Its good for others, and your mom to know your position and why you feel that way .

I was never someone who really saw the point to drugs or anything. Actually, the only time I drink, is when I'm not carrying, since I personally choose not to drink and carry. Meaning, it's almost always when I'm in the city that I drink, and it's because someone is offering me a free beer and pizza at some sort of conference.
Actually, I remember a few years back at the Javits center, at the end of the AWS Summit there, they had WAY too much free beer. Wound up going a little overboard with one of my coworkers. Good times.
Anyway, outside of a specific occasion like a conference, I basically don't drink at all. I don't want to make it a regular thing in my life. Could care less what other people do to themselves.
