Thanks for the extractor info. I did take the Rossi apart and did polish up some of the interior that was pretty rough but it could stand some more. It was really dirty inside. The lever runs more smoothly now. I will look into the extractor info and maybe take a look at that a little more when I take it down next time. It was a little tricky but it isn't hard once you figure out what you are doing.

Rim. If the case mouths are being dinged its probably the bullet /COAL length is too long.

The 1892 design has a steep feedramp/chamber entrance. This makes it COAL sensitive.

Ya my rims are fine. My .38s were loaded at roughly 1.428. Part of the mouth is getting damaged like something is cutting into the case mouth...maybe from the loading gate or there is a metal burr that is chewing them up during extraction or loading. It doesn't happen to all of them but at-least 50%.

I have read that the strong ejection springs put alot of upward force causing these scratches on extraction. Check chamber mouth for sharp edges or burrs. Especially around the extractor notch. The brass scratches might match the notch width.

I just swapped the extactor spring with a 7/3 x 1 5/8 inch spring from lowes and polished around the chamber a tad so hopefully it will stop damaging my brass. I ejected some empty brass from the rifle and it seemed to eject and function fine with no noticable damage. I also took some tension of the trigger spring and it is lighter and crisp. The action has smoothed out alot and is very smooth, I can operate it with just my pinky.

Does anyone use any aftermarket sights for their Rossi 92s?

I put a Williams 5D peep sight on my Rossi '92 in 454 Casull...Love it. I had the Steve's safety site...not nearly as nice or as effective as the beautifully traditional 5D Receiver sight.
