Target challenge rule change question.

Should the rules change ( in February) to allow more than one attempt ( you keep your best score) but, the tie breaker stays as date and time of entry?

Would probably get more participation that way.

I'm all for more participation - would be great to get more folks competing. I voted no as IMO the better shooters would have an advantage being able to re-shoot up until the last day. The rest of us may spend a day at the range working toward a good score. There's strategy involved in posting your score including the date in event of tie.

Well, more targets would be posted that's for sure. As it is participants may wait till the end of the month to post. On the other hand it may make the thread confusing with multiple shooters posting multiples of targets throughout the month.

The guys that shoot the most are gonna be the
only ones that shoot more than one target to submit per month.

As it is very few people participate.

It would give the average shooter more opportunities to improve......and best thing.....it will give said shooter more practice.......so unlike blind shooter @Calculon thinks, said shooter may end up being the top shooters as they spend more time at the range.

Incentive shooting. Non boring practice.

Now that I think about it wasn't it already like this anyway? What with the need to post the line "Submitted for official score" or whatnot?
I do think it could help participation. Folks would be more inclined to post up targets if the knew the could post a better score if the had better success later on.

I really only paid attention to official entries. If the rule changes I will have to pay attention to all of the posts.

I think I agree with this.

Try it for a month, see how it goes?

I see both sides but as one of the less skilled, I have to vote no.

That being said, I shot both pistol categories last month but didn't post because they weren't better than what had already been put up.

Wtf! With all the money and fame you get from this you should make ut a top priority above family, friends and work! For gods sake this is an incredible retirement plan!!!!

I meant to and you can bet your ass I'd have found the time if it was a winning score. I also meant to get back to the range and shoot the red dot category. Neither happened unfortunately.

Well the challenge is supposed to be fun. I post my targets no matter if I beat the score already posted or not.

That is the Frustration with these challenges there could be 100 people shooting them but only two will post because they got “good scores.” We will never know. Especially when someone posts a perfect score right off the bat.

I started the date time final tiebreaker as a way to get people shooting earlier in the month. Changing the rules to allow more people to have more attempts is an effort to try and get people to post their scores even if they are not perfect.

Then what is it about? You get more chances to do better for the same game? Sounds like leveling the playing field to me. You know why I don not try, time and I do not have time. I am sure that is why most of us do not do it. ORRRRRRR Put out a prize other then pride. People need incentive we are naturally going to do the least as we can. It is a primal thing. Less movement equal less food needed. Make the prize food or ammunition and see if more are interested.

That is not going to happen. I am not going to fund someone’s shooting habits.

It will also provide incentives to tempt people to cheat to win. When money is involved and there is no real way to validate the rules were being followed things tend to go south pretty fast. Even if a person didn’t cheat they would be accused, so it is a non starter.

The way it is now a person would have to be a pretty pathetic loser to cheat when it is just for bragging rights.

While your point about encouraging cheating is valid, what if we all kicked into a pot for the annual match?

The same conditions outlined previously would still exist. The only way it would work if everyone was at the same range at the same time shooting the matches.

I agree about keeping as is with prize being bragging rights. Throwing prizes into the mix complicates things needlessly.
