I have been thinking about running for an elected office for quite a few years now. This state and country are broken, likely beyond repair, and you all seem to feel the same at this point. The time needed to campaign or even get involved however was not something I could commit to - I work A LOT, so I have sat, and watched, and complained for a long time while extreme anger, an absolute distrust, and hatred for our current government has grown inside me. I'm tired of complaining.
I used to be a small business owner, and although the money was very good, I decided to secure a steady paycheck once my children were born. In my current employment, I still manage a number of people for whom I have clearly set my expectations, and outlined their responsibilities. If they fail to meet these expectations, they simply no longer have a job, and I just do it myself until a better candidate comes along. Politically, nobody is meeting my expectations.
I have been a registered Conservative for as long as I have been a voter, but am removing myself from that party and changing my registration to no party affiliation. The Conservative party in NY has consistently failed us. They regularly endorse Liberal Democrats in my district and it disgusts me. The Republican party may as well be Democrats. I lean heavily Conservative but do support some Libertarian ideas. It will be near impossible to run without a major party endorsement, but there is always the write-in line. I use it all the time.
I am not ready to announce which office I may seek (clue below) or give my real name. There is still some research that needs to be done. Not sure if redistricting will happen before 2022 either. That will factor into my decision. The idea of this thread is to encourage others here to also consider running at all levels of government, and for every single office. We need to start a new narrative and force career politicians out of office before any real work can be done.
Every Sunday, if there is any interest, I will try to start a new thread where we can discuss a specific policy topic. I would prefer to keep it civil and informative. You all certainly have some viewpoints I probably never considered, and would like to hear opposing thoughts. Not trying to be a populist candidate - just informed. I was thinking to time the weekly thread to conflict with the Schumer TV fake tears news conference, so I understand if you prefer that and can't make it. He is pathetically entertaining.
I may not be the best candidate, don't think I am the least-bad candidate, and am certainly not the worst candidate that you could vote for, and I could use some support(not looking for $).
I will pledge to you all here and now:
Looking forward to a discussion. If anyone else might be considering running, this would be a great place to announce it.
It's a hell of a time to be alive.

I will pledge to you all here and now:
- I will come in HOT. Day one. NY politicians will want me dead.
- I will uphold and fight to restore and defend the Constitution.
- I will call bullshit every time I see it.
- I will wear a powdered wig and tricorn hat when I take the oath.
- I will publicly, my first day in session, call Cuomo a traitor and tyrant, provide a list of grievances, and demand his resignation.
- Vending machines in the cafeteria.
Looking forward to a discussion. If anyone else might be considering running, this would be a great place to announce it.
