Deplorable Me
.700 Nitro Express
I've never been a fan of older S&W pistols. Always liked their revolvers. Just bought a S&W Shield. Really like the compact little pisser with the 7 round magazine. Looking for a pocket holster.
Had one on my hip for almost 3 years. Love it. I added the Apex trigger kit and Tru Glo TFX night sights. Great little shooter
I like the 2.0. I just bought a new carry gun and wish I would have waited to investigate the 2.0 compact. I liked everything about the gun, but was not crazy about the trigger. I chose the Springfield xd compact in 9mm. I love that gun. It shoots awesome. A bit heavy, but it has a great beaver tail blackstrap and for a 3" barrel the sight distance is great. Very easy takedown and cleaning. Really a solid we'll build gun. Of course double the shield price.I am very fond of mine. I carry it IWB and I forget its there. And now that Inhave some trigger time with ot I can honestly say that I enjoy shooting the little bugger now. I too am going to het the full Apex treatment at some point as well as a magguts kit for some T&E.
As for the performance center version mentuoned above, I don't like holes, slots or cuts in the slide of my CCW for lint and such to get into. Standard version works just fine for its intended purpose. I wonder if a 2.0 Shield isnin the works? Though, honeslty, I'm not all that keen on some of the 2.0's "upgrades".
I believe the performance center model only has the Apex sear and striker block, and not the aluminum safe action trigger. I could be wrong about that though. The full Duty kit is the way to go, I hated the orginal trigger itself. I found that I would.often get a little high on the bang switch with my finger doing speed drills, and it wouldn't pull.Is it worth getting the performance center? The trigger on that was really nice compared to the standard one, but not sure if it's worth the premium
So far mine is okay out of the box.I like mine as is. It took a while for the trigger pull to stabilize. Now its very consistant and feels good enough for a carry gun.
Wow!See what you guys made me do?
Smith & Wesson M&P SHIELD 9mm ‒ 180021
$319.99 + free shipping - $75 rebate = $244.99
Not a bad deal. I can always add a trigger kit and night sights later.
Now let's just hope I'm approved for my permit.
Wow!
Mine cost about $200 more than that a year or two ago.
Go ahead and brag! I'm happy for you.Crap. Didn't mean to be a braggart. If it makes you feel any better, I can't even legally own it yet, lol.

I don't have all that much issue with my Shield's trigger. But weren't they upgraded at some point? I've only had mine for not quite a year.
Apex Tactical Action Enhancement Trigger Kit S&W M&P Shield 9mm 40 S&WI checked out the apex website, but there were like a million different options from $80 to $180. What would I need or what would you guys recommend?
What isbthe difficulty level of this install. I've never striped a pistol beyond the field level, would it be best left to a gunsmith?Apex Tactical Action Enhancement Trigger Kit S&W M&P Shield 9mm 40 S&W
This is the kit I used, it has everything you need, including a slave pin to to help install the trigger assembly.
It wasn't very difficult at all if you have a little mechanical inclination and some patience. I'm an auto tech by trade, so taking things apart and putting them together is something I do all day every day. My first shot at the range after the install though was with eyes closed and head turned sideways. LOL.What isbthe difficulty level of this install. By the time one purchases an Apex kit and other upgrades one could get a Walther PPS M2. I agonized over this for a week or two and just went with the PPS instead of the Shield. If the Shield is good enough out of the box than it's advantage Shield. A good value with the rebate, but not if one has to buy aftermarket upgrades.

I would completely agree with this but for two things.By the time one purchases an Apex kit and other upgrades one could get a Walther PPS M2. I agonized over this for a week or two and just went with the PPS instead of the Shield. If the Shield is good enough out of the box than it's advantage Shield. This is true when talking dollars and cents value. I held the PPS (and a dozen other compact 9's as well such as the Kahr CM9 and PM9, G26, Ruger LC9), the Shield felt the best in my hand. But cost for my EDC was very low on my list. I didn't want to spend a fortune on something like a Kimber Solo, but I wasn't going to fret over nickel and dime stuff. I carried the Shield bone stock for about a year before I made any upgrades. I was considering them for a while, but was anxiously waiting the arrival of G43 before I did anything. The G43 came out, I held it, wasn't a fan. So I upgraded my Shield with Tru Glo sights and the Apex kit. I also added a rubberized Talon Grip. All said and done I have about $600 invested, so not too over the top cost wise, but it's a setup that's perfect for me, and I now have an EDC that I'm 100% comfortable with and confident in. That to me is the real value.By the time one purchases an Apex kit and other upgrades one could get a Walther PPS M2.
