More details. Sounds like the cops couldn’t even see the gun and didn’t even know it was the guy. He went up stairs to take care of his dog. They probably should have said that can wait or followed him upstairs.

Officer shot in Tonawanda expected to survive

A police officer for the City of Tonawanda was shot four times overnight by a person who was involved in a shooting earlier in the night.

The cop shot is detective David Ljljanich. He’s a very nice man who has a lovely wife, 2 beautiful daughters, and a son. He’s actually the guy who did my pistol permit background check. He’s a dedicated cop, father, and husband. His kids and my kids are similar ages and I’ve interacted with him many times. He coaches soccer and is an avid soccer player himself. This guy is always polite and smiling. He’s one of those cops that was always nice to people possibly too nice sometimes. He joined the DEA drug task force team and worked very closely with my father who retired from the same police force.

Sad to see but I’m sure this won’t break his spirit or his smile.

Just a complete guess but drug dealer. My city is between Buffalo and Niagara Falls and drug/gang activity is up. They run between Buffalo and Niagara Falls usually without violence but guess not this time. The police here take a lot of drugs and guns off Buffalo and Niagara Falls residents. There’s been a few gang related incidents in the past few years where tonawanda drug dealers think they can compete or play tough guy with the big timers in Buffalo and Niagara Falls.

I grew up in the City of Tonawanda. Used to be a decent town, like many smaller towns, it is really turning into a shithole. Much of the decline is due to the drug problem. We should load the streets with more Fentynal.

It still is a descent town for the most part but yep it’s just the drug thing that’s the issue. Not sure specifically in this case but I’ll find out.

Just heard he’s expected to be out in 24 hours. That wall must have really slowed down the bullet and just been flesh wounds. Thank God!!

Maybe we should provide them with needles, no risk injection sites, and narcan so they can do their drugs safely. California seems to have figured this out....leaving NY in the dust.

I do not want to see no risk sites. I do not want to waste valuable narcan. I do not want to give them fresh needles.

Glad your fine! Hopefully the officer recovers quick. Like you said I’m sure the perp will get what’s coming to him.

One of the neighbors they interviewed for this story said he heard gun shots and grabbed his own gun and went outside to check it out. Whatever you do - don't be like that guy. It's a great way to get yourself killed by either the bad guy or the cops.

Yup. Thats why I bought a Shockwave. Just because I could and knew it wouldn't be that way forever. Shot maybe 5 rounds out of it once. Don't care if I ever do again. Just wanted to have it to have it.

After a second look, it's not an other. No vfg, and not a brace. This idiot has an sbr in NY. Might as well have thrown a can on it also while he was at it.

Nah, give the all the highest quality carfentanyl they want. No narcan though.

The problems will soon sort themselves out.

Way safer and cheaper than the current "let's fight an unwinnable war" plan.

I wasn't talking about the perp being released from the hospital I was talking about him walking out the revolving door in NYS courts with no bail.
