2k worth of bottle/stored water of some type and some of the 2k towards more filters/purification
1.5k worth of CBRNE gear
1k worth of gas containers and gas
500 for cords of firewood
500 dog food
500 for another small-mid size solar power battery generator
500 OTC medicine and supplements
500 for odds and ends, for example, shortwave radio, comms, rechargeable batteries
500 for hygiene items. TP, napkins, deodorant, toothpaste, garbage bags, etc



That's what would come to mind if I had about an hour to figure out how to spend 10k

1k enough diesel gas to get as deep enough into a mountain range void of other people.

Being in a remote easily defensible position as competition for resources will become the natural order of things.

Colder temperatures the better, viruses feed off warmer weathers.

How would you spend the hypocritical money in that scenario

Does the plague impact animals as well. Are the animals dying? With thinking the animals are living I would get to my parents cabin, sell my house for the $350-$375 it’s worth in cash and have about $350,000 to spend. Many people are paying cash and closing in 30 days so it’s possible and in an illness situation the city is no place to be.
I’d have solar power with lithium ion batteries installed, add a water pump with primo filtration, UV, and back up chili to action system.
Then I would buy all I needed for an addition to build it myself along with better appliances. I’d buy a side by side of some kind to get around, more ammo and back up food stores. About what others have said here in sealed long term containers for food. I would need additional gas and storage.
my parents place is off the grid and set back so no one really knows it’s there except maybe 5 people. There is another property in front of theirs so I would buy that and have all signs of life removed from their and stop maintaining it to give the effect it’s all vacant land. There is a cold spring fed creek on my parents property so a good water source is there. I’d have a shallow well dug to keep it going all year long since it dries up in the heat of summer.
Id buy a back up chain saw or two and some other tools, likely even a small tractor to get things done around there and some maintenance parts for all tools. I’d get a better wood stove and back up pipes to vent it properly.
Id buy some more trapping gear to trap instead of shoot animals. I’d lay low until the 2-3 other people on their road died but I’d likely try to make friends with the one older couple there since they know the area well and have resources and they seem trustworthy.
Heck, maybe I’d even buy a small drivable RV or school bus and have it as a big out vehicle. I’m sure I’d have plenty of cash left over so why not buy some silver and gold.
Maybe selling my house is cheating it don’t know, but you gave me enough time to sell it.

Raid a pharmacy for a ton of anti viral, anti fungal medicine along with antibiotics and first aid equip

Books on gardening

alot more heirloom seeds

Heavy duty water filtration system

Several hundred gallons of gasoline

Crap ton of freeze dried food

A little more ammo

Find or make some suppressors and make sure that certain firearms could accept them

Cross bow with a ton of bolts

Alot more arrows for regular bow

So, I will stick to the rules.... 10 Grand to spend somewhat quickly.

At least 2 grand will be spent on additional food stuffs. Dried food, baking needs and can goods.

In the neighborhood of $750 for additional medical supplies. This will include medicines and antibiotics.

A few hundred on dog food/treats and medical supplies for the dog.

A decent night vision set up. Nothing spectacular, just something that will enable me to see better at night. This will fall into the 1K price range.

Back up power supply. Something that will be solar powered. In the area of 1K

Rechargeable batteries for anything and everything that is battery powered. $300ish.

I will finally get around to buying a few suppressors for the guns. $2000ish

Everyday items that may be needed. The list can be endless. Things like zip ties, rope, etc... $300

Fuels, maybe in the area of $750. Gas, kerosine, propane and the like.

I have a very healthy supply of ammo, will not need to purchase more.

Celt gave me the idea of arrows/bolts. Maybe $300 on a bit more

$1000 on water needs.

That about sums it up, I could do deeper thinking to make the list better if needed.

I have plenty of hygiene needs. A good, overall stock of everyday needs.
