A Greece School District employee was arrested after police said he brought a weapon into the parking lot of Greece Odyssey High School on Wednesday during a dispute.

Now, albeit its on school grounds, seems like she will be charged with the sensitive place

Agreed. In the whole sum of charges, the new one seems to be the least of the concern. Just interested to see if the charge will stick or be pled down.

Believe criminal possession on school grounds is an E felony. Not sure what menacing is but in my view that's far more serious in this case.

Whats worse about this situation is that they had a legal permit. This will be spread like wildfire and be used by the liberals as a "see, our laws work" moment. That is an interesting scenario, brandishing a gun towards an aggressor. Do you lose your right to self defense on school grounds I'm going to say no you don't. This case could have meat if the story you heard was true.

I agree you should not have to give up your rights on school grounds either, but does an argument give you justification to pull your firearm? I’d surely say no in NYS and that’s all it sounds like this is was an exchange of words from what we know.

The only issue I have with this is the staying on the car aspect. Standing still they are a metal coffin. Hindsight being 20/20, driving to the nearest political station if she felt threatened may have been a better choice

Not only that, but when charged with a crime involving a firearm, the existence of a license to carry OR even LE credentials may become vitiated. I have heard of cops being charged with gun crimes if they do something stupid off duty involving brandishing or shooting.

That is true but they were charged with a crime directly related to the new law that wasn’t a crime prior to 9/1 and that was my point.

I understand what you’re saying but an argument and some one following you doesn’t indicate your life is in danger. Remember the statue NYS has for article 35 and deadly physical force can only be used if it’s coming your way first and you have a duty to retreat and what better way to retreat than to drive away? First, it appears that she DID drive away and was pursued.

Second, we have no idea what was said or transpired in the parking lot. It isn't out of the realm of possibility that she feared for her life or safety.

Third, it is alleged that she pointed it. Maybe that happened, maybe it didn't. It's a certainty that she didn't fire.

Fourth, my main point is that for all our bitching and complaining about these laws, we're all too ready to hang people out to dry if the reporting casts them in any sort of a bad light. We talk a good game on the internet, but any one of us could be in this exact position tomorrow if our judgement and actions aren't 100% on point.

ETA: I agree - she's fucked. But maybe, in just world, she shouldn't be. None of us really know, but most posters here seem to have crucified her already.
