I've used GB...

Buyer beware Luke with any purchase. As noted, seller ratings are huge! And I always use a MO, this way of there's ever an issue, ie, fraud, it becomes a Federal issue as well (mail, MO theft) : ) in addition to GB policies etc.

That said, I've not had an issue at all and I'm confident using GB.

A year or so ago I bought a nice 45 caliber Ruger Old Army black powder revolver from the local hunting forum for $450.The guy lives about 150 mile south of my place. I mailed him a postal money order for it and some druggies from Texas stole his mail along with my letter and money order.

The Oregon State Police called he a couple of day after I mailed it and said they did a traffic stop and my letter along with a bunch of others were in the car.
Needless to say the money order was not there, I contacted the Post Office and told them that the money order was stollen and I can get a police report about it.
I had to pay them somewhere around $7 to file it being lost or stollen.
They then wait 60 days to see if it gets cashed, if it does get cashed they give you the information on where it was cashed and you have to fight with that institution to get a refund.
If it doesn't get cashed within the 60 days the post Office will mail you a refund.
So really their policy on lost or stollen money orders isn't that great but it's better then no policy at all.

The money order wasn't cashed and I did get reimburst minus the money I paid for the inquirey,

That said, I've not had an issue at all and I'm confident using GB.

I have always made it a personal rule that I only use FFL's on GB and GunsAmerica. I figure nobody would risk losing an FFL to screw me out of a few hundred bucks. And yeah - I always use US Post Office money orders. Honestly I haven't known anyone that ever got screwed on GB, GA, or SubGuns.

Gun Broker gets an A+++ from me. I have bought and sold there. I have had a couple of buyers and potential bugers who were arsehats such as one who sent me a torn, filthy, copy of a dealer's FFL. He said he sent that one to me because it was easier than getting a new copy from his dealer, who by the way was by then at a different address than on the copy I got - no sale. Had one straw purchase attempt too also no sale. Also had one guy who complained a shotgun I sent had more pitting than I had mentioned even though my item description stated there was extensive pitting and the photos showed it. He moaned and groaned and wanted a partial refund. I offered total refund but he had to return gun to me. Funny, he decided to keep it and simply did.not leave feedback. Also one or a couple of guys who did not want to send me copy of their ID as per MY terms which are all stated in my auction - no sale. GB refunded the final value fees on the no sales.

As I recall, no problems buying but I will be damned if I can recall buying a gun via GunBroker.com. Most of my purchases have been for parts but maybe I bought a gun there way back whenever.

I should add, I go out of my way on GunBroker to give exact descriptions of what I am selling and even tend to be more conservative so the item arrives somewhat better than expected. Only ever had that one complaint mentioned above that a gun I sold was not at least exactly as I described it and remember after complaining he decided to keep it even though I offered a full refund including shipping.

Figured I'd resurrect an old thread instead of starting a new one.
I'm just starting to get into GB, only bought from Buds before.

Has anyone had good luck getting any steals on here? Like I'm looking at a gun with no reserve and the opening bid is like $3. It ends in 6 days. The gun is probably worth $800. I just have the feeling that even if I'm the only bid at say, $500, that "someone" will out bid me at the last minute just so they don't have to actually take the low bid from me.

Am I paranoid or have you guys actually been able to swipe a deal?

Most guns on gun broker are going to go for close to the retail price. It is very rare you are going to find something which is not a buy it now that doesn’t go for what you would pay for it at a local gun store ( by the time you pay the cc charge, shipping, taxes and transfer fee). I use gun broker for availability more than anything else. Although I have got some pretty good deals on magazines which are no longer in production.

Very true, the things I typically look for are not being panic bought. I mean nobody feels they are going to be under gunned and out in the cold if they don’t have a S&W 929 or a Sig P320 Legion. Lol

Stay away from Gunbroker. Lots of scammers. They post guns they don’t have with listings from other sites. Always look for their rating. If they are NG or 0, stay away. Best way to check is ask them for a specific picture that is not in the listing. See if they respond. If you get ripped off, Gunbroker will not back you. Look at Guns International or Hessney Auction sites.

GB is gtg IMO. Bought and sold plenty there over the yrs.
As for finding a deal now, probably not going to happen. Market values are peak everywhere including Al Gore‘s innerweb.

Now with the convenience fee, (or whatever they are calling it), sales tax, inflated shipping by most sellers and transfer fee once it arrives...it’s just not worth it.

I’ve purchased several guns off of Gunbroker without issues. But then , I ask a Lot of questions and even ask the seller sometimes if I can call and talk to them personally. Never had a refusal and always closed the deal. I’ve even gotten extras sent along with the firearm that wasn’t in the add.

I’m seeing some pretty crazy prices on a variety of things. God bless them as it seems like they are getting it.
