I understand your position and I view the guy as a traitor. The principle is there was no trial. Even the left wing ACLU filed suit against Obama for that.

Obviously some acts must be legal for the POTUS when they aren't for others.Without immunity for official acts, no one would be President. Anyone would be prosecuted after leaving office for a decision. Some people here need to calm down.
There wouldn't be a functioning country without it. The dissenting opinion is what we all need to focus on. If Joe Biden had any communications with the DOJ about the prosecution of Trump, that action would not qualify as official. They know it and that is why the left is going ballistic.

Absent that, it should be self defense justification only.

I do agree with what you are saying, and I'm not talking about an enemy of the USA necessarily, its a personal thing to me, like I said before, I have a special hatred for these people. And when this al-Awlaki joined al queda he surrendered his US citizenship and was fair game in my view.
Only a retard believes this ruling gives POTUS, whether it's Biden or Trump, carte blanche to do whatever they want or elevates them to some kind of King-like status. There's a bunch of other amendments that need to be struck down before that happens.

Without some level of immunity this lawfare tactic created by this twisted administration would become the norm and hamstring every future POTUS.

Too many scenarios to be covered when minutes count when acting in the official capacity and interests of the people. Remember this was granted by the Constitution hundreds of years ago and was broad so that future unforeseen events counted for. Biden's feckless withdrawal in Afghanistan, covered or not? Drone killing of an American citizen who clearly committed acts of terror on the world, covered?
Again, no one would take the presidency or even be effective if necessary minute by minute decisions had to be legally vetted and sent through congress which would take months, only then jailed for years after.

There is a very simple test for extra judicial killing.
Is it a justifiable act of self defense ? Same rules for civilians as government employees. Whether you're delivering a pizza in Philadelphia or manning a checkpoint in Yemen.
Past that, are they an enemy in a declared war ?
That's it. That, plus sentencing after a jury trial are the only acceptable ways to intentionally kill someone.

As for all the other decisions, certainly a president needs leeway. But it should be spelled out precisely what it is. The case where they need some legal review just shouldn't come up.
The fact that we put the mentally handicapped in charge of writing our laws is the root problem. If the laws were written properly there would be no ambiguity and the president wouldn't need immunity, he would know exactly what he can and can't do in a situation.
