I'm a hunter who loves my sport. I own several deer rifles in various calibers. I put food on the family table and also have a concealed carry permit to keep me and my family safe when out and about.
Now because of the NRA and people who think owning mil style rifles to do mag dumps is some God given right I'm going to loose my rights. The American people are pissed and are ready to pass any and all gun reform laws like, gun ins, ammo bans, licensing etc.
This crap all wouldn't be coming down on me and millions of other gun owner/hunters if it weren't for this ridiculous need for these AR/rifles.
Now polls are clearly showing a sharp divide amongst gun owners like me and gun owners who need to own black rifles.
Go ahead and flame me, I'm used to it, and have heard all the we"might have to defend ourselves from the government" .well good luck with that. And I do hunt with my AR15 and 30 Rd mags argument too.
But to end this my biggest problem with this whole thing is the insensitivity shown by the black rifles crowd to victims of mass shootings who are demonized, calling them actors. And the lack of not seeing what's going on in America with nut jobs easily getting hold of these weapons of war and killing large groups of innocent people out for a night of drinks, or at a concert or going to school or church for Christ sake...

Personally I don’t give a shit about your hunting rifles, the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting. And “your hunting rifles are capable of shooting distances no civilian should ever need to shoot, with big calibers that are way harder hitting than any “black rifle” caliber.” I’ve seen actual leftist trash write up articles saying these things, independent of so-called assault weapons. I have to say your a moron if you believe they won’t come for your hunting riffles at some point or your pistol next.
So here’s the plan, scare stupid people into thinking black riffles are worse and more deadly to get them banned. Then they will say well we succeeded with banning black riffles that kill 2-3% of gun homicides so your pistol is next because by far pistols kill way more people in mass shootings and everyday street violence.
Also keep in mind there are already talks of banning and some places have already banned .50 caliber riffles and handguns.

If you think we can’t hold our own look how long we have been in Afghanistan for. Why do you think we’ve been there 17-18 years same reason the liberals here won’t start confiscating hubs from us. Urban warfare sucks and it’s very hard to fight and win a victory. Also don’t you think some of the military and police will join our fight if it comes to fighting government tyranny. Many police and military are on our side.
So you can say all you want about me, my type, and the NRA but I built a 6.8SPC specifically for hunting. Also the NRA provided a good bit of money in grants so my local range could set up a youth shooting program something that’s desperately needed. Remember hunting licenses are on the decline and look at that crazy lady from NYC and many other places that are attacking and trying to prevent hunting. We did not bring this on.
Also keep in mind I have done nothing wrong with my guns and all are legal even for NYS.
Oh and yes I’m seeing the trend. It’s called the pussification of the USA and it’s very concerning. Go interact with a 15-20 year old and you’ll see what I mean.

After banning the black rifles they will want any semi auto rifle

Then any semi auto pistol

Then any and all pistol and revolvers which are “responsible” for the majority of “gun violence”

Then your “sniper rifles” which you call a deer rifle.

Then since shotguns are responsible for all gun deaths ( since shotguns are all that remains) they will go as they second amendment doesn’t protect hunting.

So in the end it will be you and those like you who will be responsible for your loss of rights if you continue to go this way.

I sense the emotional turmoil in your post about these tragic deaths but please realize only the shooters are responsible not law abiding gun owners including you and I. If you take one type of firearm away they will use another weapon If you take all firearms away they will drive a car or truck.

And in many of these cases the nut jobs were reported to the police and nothing happened. The parkland shooter was my personal favorite. Because of his ethnic sounding last name he was never kicked out of school because of obama's "we can't arrest our way out of this problem" policies. Hell, people went to the cops multiple times about how crazy he was and they did nothing.

So what is your solution? More laws? Given what we've seen new red flag laws won't be applied against the nut jobs but they certainly will be applied to law abiding citizens that happen to have angry ex-girlfriends/wives or neighbors with a grudge. No thank you.

If you can't see the real trends here then you are simply not paying attention. C'mon man open your eyes and look at the bigger picture!

The reason I want an AR, as long as it is a legal use, makes no difference. Self defense, competition, hunting, target, how about; its fun, collecting, etc. If the government bans, restricts, confiscates, etc, this type rifle, they will continue banning the next mass killing gun of choice. I have a right. I am responsible and if I choose to own an AR, I have a reason. Yes, it is a horrible thing that a few do with ARs. I cant imagine experiencing a mass shooting and I feel horrible for the people hurt but, I feel equally as bad for those run down but automobiles, stabbed, attacked by use of an explosive. If their current instrument of destruction is no longer accessible, the warped individuals of society will simply find another. Society cannot ban everything they may use. As others have said, once the AR is gone, the left will go after the next style gun used. And it will continue until your hunting rifle, be it bolt action or other, is gone too. They wont come and take my AR, I don't own one. But I certainly do not want to open the door that could eventually lead to them taking my Red Ryder. And I do not believe they have the right to step on law abiding citizens who have their own reasons for owning what they own.

If you do, please explain how in Canada it's extremely hard to even get your hands on a pistol. In England even harder. That concealed carry permit you prize, the semi auto shotgun you use to hunt birds, even a five round mag in a bolt action rifle--all of these will be targets once/if gun grabbers succeed with black rifles.

People who's entire career is based around gun control will not stop until all the guns are gone. That doesn't yet, but would ultimately include everything you think now of as reasonable and protected.

Just another point- no matter whose definition you use. The vast majority (BY FAR) of "mass shootings" are carried out with the use of- semiautomatic handguns.
